Space Shuttle view?

We just found out that when we sail on March 18, there will be a space shuttle launch at 1:45 pm. What can we expect to see from deck? Any tips?
Thanks!

Don't bet on it...odds are it will be rescheduled. If it really does launch on your embarkation date, you can expect LONG traffic delays on the way to the port and an unbelievable view! You can see the launches from WDW!

We also had a cruise where the captain really moved it to head back toward Port Canaveral so that we would be as close as possible for the shuttle's scheduled launch...but again, the launch was scrubbed.

This link is from our 2008 Wonder back to back cruise. The view and the sound from our stateroom was unforgettable.

I know that when the ship is in port, you can easily make out the VAB at NASA. I would expect that even if the launch has been delayed (and it most likely will be) that the shuttle might still be at the launch pad and you should be able to see it. However, it will be 12 miles away, so to see any detail, you would need a pair of binoculars.

Should you be lucky enough to see the launch, it will be the exhaust plume that you'll really see (because again, you will never be closer than 12 miles from the shuttle). But from what I hear, it's still an amazing sight.

How well you can see it will depend upon how cloudy it is and the visability that day. We can see them from Jacksonville, so from the ship will be an awesome view!

A different yet related question....

We will be on the 4 night Jan 31 Wonder. There are 2 launches scheduled while we are on board. Feb 3 there is an Atlas V launch. Feb 4 there is a Shuttle launch.

Feb 3 is our day at sea. Is this something the captain would head back and cruise off shore for us to see?
It is scheduled for mid-morning at the same time DW and I have Palo brunch reservations. How I love brunch and I know it would have a great view but it would be fund to see with DS5, DD5.

Feb 4 is a 6am scheduled launch. I guess that is what will get us up.

I realize it is a long way off and the chances of both going off as scheduled is slim, but I'm keeping my fingers crossed.
