Anyone in the North East have pricing for New furnace/AC?

UPDATE: still waiting for second guy to give a price for the new units....BUT I was talking to a friend and he said maybe we just have a leak in our a/c like he did and that was about $700!! I'm hoping.

MsMayor, are you here? Could you please recommend who you used for your install just in case? thank you so much

Here's a thread that I found with alot of information http://www.disboards.com/showthread....hlight=heating

Hoping someone here has pricing for Carrier, American Standard or Trane heating AND air conditioning system recently installed. Our home is 1600 sf. We're having two estimators out this week.

thanks!

DH just provided a quote for $7,250 for heating system alone. Job was done in October.

If you know someone who knows someone you might be able to get a better deal. He did a side job for the same system for $4,000.

I need to get some quotes. We have a 37 year old furnace running on borrowed time but I just don't have the $$$ right now.

We had ours done last year. DH knows someone (he's in the construction business) that did it on the side and it still ran us $6k (house is 3,200 sq ft).

We had our furnace and A/C replaced a year ago. The furnace was working OK, but we opted to replace both together to maximize efficiency as they work better when the two units are 'mated'. Trane units were installed.

3,000sf house, $6,000 total cost. Central NJ.

Last year we got a quote for replacing the A/C unit only, and it was about $4700. I can't remember what brand it was for....in the end, we decided to wait, lots more pressing things to spend $5K on (like braces!)

Msmayor, we to are in central NJ and are thinking of replacing our furnace, and installing AC (already have hot air system) Can I ask who you used? Were you happy with their work, and what effeciency did you get? Our home is much smaller. Was that figure before or after rebates?
Thanks for any help you can offer.

yes, Msmayor, we are also in Central Jersey so any more info you have would be so appreciated.

OP here - Well, the Carrier guy came last night from AJ Perri. The total for new furnace (a hybrid one with heat pump, very energy efficient, recommended for our townhome) and air conditioner system is a whopping $8,900 after all the rebates like the $1,500 tax credit. We would have to finance for 60 months. Second company is coming out tonight from Panda, it's a neighbor of ours, he already said he's going to price Trane and American Standard so hopefully he'll have a better price.

Thanks everyone for your replies

How far up in central NJ are you. Dh may be able to help you. Did you get the second price? For that size home the first price sounds a bit high. Trane and Carrier are going to be a bit more expensive then the AS.
