Silly Newbie question about ticket prices

Hi there; I have been lurking for some time; love the site! I was in DW just once before, and with a 20 month old, so we did not get to do much, though we absolutely loved our time there. We are heading back in a month (Dec.15-22) with our almost 4 year old, so I am really preplanning this time! (Any tips would be welcomed!) My question is:
We are looking to go to MK, DHS and Epcot. We are staying offsite. When I am checking ticket prices, I am wondering--can I buy a 4 day MYW base ticket, and use one of the tickets for a water park?

Nope.

Water Parks and Theme Parks are two different entities and use different kinds of tickets.

No, either you add the Water Park fun and more or buy a one day pas for the WP.

Thanks for the quick reply. That's too bad, though. Can you tell me: to add the water park feature to your base ticket, how exactly does that work? If I bought a 3 day base ticket, does that mean I have to add that option for all 3 days? And does that mean it is only valid for those same 3 days?

1- Yes.

2- No.
You can use any of the options for up to 14 days following the first use of the ticket.
After that, all options expire, unless you add the "non-expiring" upgrade (rarely a good idea.)

to posting on the DISboards, dizznee!

OK, that makes sense. And since I added it on my 3 day base tickets, I can go 3 different days to the water park, is that right?

And thanks for the welcome!

Sure!

But, you COULD go to a Theme Park AND a Water on the SAME day, if you like.

The Water Park Fun & More option costs a flat fee of $52 + tax, no matter the size of your ticket.

If you buy the Water Park Fun & More option, you get as many water park admissions as theme park admissions. So on a 3-day ticket, you get 3 water park admissions.

Try to think of the theme park days and the water park admissions as two separate things (even though in reality it's all coded onto one card). You can use these two types of "tickets" totally independently of each other. In other words, if you go to Magic Kingdom on Monday, you can also go to a water park on Monday if you want. Or you can go to Magic Kingdom on Monday, a water park on Tuesday, no park at all on Wednesday, a water park and Epcot on Thursday, and so on.

In fact, if you really wanted to, you can use all 3 of your Water Park Fun & More admissions on the same day, in theory. You could go to, for example, Blizzard Beach in the morning, Typhoon Lagoon in the afternoon and DisneyQuest at night. I'm not saying you should do it this way, I'm just illustrating how the tickets work.

You have 14 days from the first use of the ticket to use up all of the entitlements. You can do it in any order you want, and you can choose to combine a theme park and a water park on the same day, or you choose to keep them to separate days, and you can also choose to have days in between when you don't go to any sort of park at all. The entitlements on the ticket do not need to be used on consecutive days ... they just have to be all used up within 14 days of the first time the ticket is USED (USED, not purchased) or anything leftover will expire.

If you are only planning to have one water park or Disney Quest day you are much better off purchasing separate tickets.

If you buy the Water Parks Fun and More option to your MYW ticket it will cost $55.38 (including tax) per person, adult or child. It will add one WPF&M entry per day on the base or hopper ticket (but two entries on a one day ticket).

If you purchase one day water park or Disney Quest tickets they cost $47.93 adult and $41.54 child. If you are an Annual Passholder or DVC Member you can purchase one day water park tickets at an appoximate 10% discount.

This upgrade may be done at any Park (including water parks or TTC) ticket booth or Guest Relations Office. If it is on your room key it can also be done at the Resort Lobby Concierge.

(Note each person must have their own ticket. Even though it adds multiple entries to your ticket, you can only use one ticket for one person.)

Also, if you are planning to do three or more water park visits within a year there is a definite price advantage to purchase Water Park Annual Passes.

We have two unusual policies at the water parks concerning ticketing. Both involve use of a one day water park ticket.

One is we will allow full value of the used WP ticket to upgrade to a WP AP as long as it is within 14 days of use.

The other, which is the only time combining tickets is allowed, is we will merge a used WP one day ticket with a MYW ticket to add the WPF&M option and only charge the difference in price.
