Double Stroller

Thinking about renting a double stroller for my grandchildren, I was wondering if it is alot of trouble getting on and off the buses?

It depends on what you rent. If you use Disney stollers, they can only be used in the park - so there is no taking them on/off the bus.

If you rent other strollers - jogging strollers can be really big and bulking, and therefore a bit of trouble. Some other types can be easier. Overall, even the lightest double strollers will weight over 30 lbs.

I have a jeep double umbrella stroller that is easier to fold than some bulky single strollers. Highly recommend it. I bought it used at Once Upon a Child for $40 so you might find something like that on Craigslist or a local used store.

I refuse to spend the $30+ to rent at Disney, when I can buy something used for practically that price.

A duoglider, Sit and Stand or double jogger would not be good choices - heavy, difficult to fold and wouldn't be easy to lug on and off buses.

Good luck.

I agree, just got back a last week, took my Graco duoglider and wanted to pitch it after the second day, it was heavy, awkward, cumbersome and a PITA in general, especially when the buses were crowded. I looked at every double stroller I saw down there, and talked to the parents using them on several occasions, I definately will be investing in a McLarnen double umberella stroller, it's easy to use, lighter and reclines enough to be comfie for sleeping toddlers (not recommended by one Mom for the ages under 9 months) but most of the Dad's liked it since they are usually the ones who get stuck folding and carrying it. I am checking Craig'slist or second hand shops so I can give one a try inexpensively before I invest the full retail amount, once I decide to buy a new one, I will just re-sell the one I but from Craig'slist...

I have a Macalren twin techno. It was really expensive, but worth every penny. It is still a little heavy (less than 20 lbs) but both seats recline fully and it is a breeze to drive. I use it all the time and really love it. I don't find it a huge pain to fold up and bring on the bus, although you have to remember not to be a pack rat and pile it full with juice cups, blankets, etc. It won't fold up correctly unless it is empty. My boys sleep great in it and I think it is an awesome stroller.

I love the McClaren strollers. Check out the DOUBLE STROLLER SWAPS. We've used to Royal Carriage strollers. They are kind of bulky but they are a free swap.

Have you thought about renting a stroller while in town. I have used a rental from Magic Strollers and was very impressed. Have my next rental schedule for next week.

They are easy to fold, by far easier than the Maclaren we have at home. Very east to jump on and off a bus, they have a great basket on the bottom and a parent console attached to the handle bar.

You may want to check them out.

Just make sure that if you buy a used Maclaren (ANY year, ANY model), you get their kit to fix it from the recall earlier this week - you don't want any finger amputations!

I agree about the double umbrella-type stroller - we had a single umbrella stroller that wasn't a pain on the bus, and we need 2 seats now so we have to have another (ended up getting a Combi twin savvy on Craigslist) that doesn't look like too much of a pain on the bus (although we may end up renting a car anyway ), but our big double jogger would be RIDICULOUS on a bus! Have a great trip!

How old are the kids? I have an infant, so an umbrella isn't an option. If they are toddlers go with the umbrella.

The twin techno is for newborns and up. I bought it when my second son was born.
