consumer reports reliable front loader

So a few months ago I was singing the praises of my 8 year old front loader. Which now needs a new spinner arm for $200. Looking at buying a new one, but still think I want a front loader as I love the water conservation/enery savings. We have looked and looked at reviews. Anyone have a near current consumer reports that has an opinion?
Thanks

Do you get consumer reports? They have an online version that we get and I love it. Just a couple quick clicks of the button and you can find any review that you want.

Sears had a front loader washer/dryer pair in their Black Friday ad for $580 or so.

In July '09, GE front load washers topped the CR ratings.

My coworker just bought one and did a lot of research on it. She said that, overall, Samsung had a good rating so she got that. She loves it so far.

I've had the Whirlpool Steam Duet for about 3 years and just love them. It is killing me that they will not fit in my new condo. The closet that they go in is about an inch and a half too shallow for them to fit. I really splurged on those thinking that I would have them for years. I really haven't used the steam function on the washer but have used it on the dryer quite a bit. I like the sanitize feature on the washer.

Can you take the doors off the closet and hang a nice shower curtain or other fabric cover??

I thought about trying to do something - but this is a 30 year old kind of odd condo - the laundry/hot water closet is right at the front door! It might interfere with the front door opening - but mostly it just wouldn't look good to have something like that right at the entry.

I'm going to give my w/d to my sister who only lives about a mile and a half from me so I can still go use it for special things if I need to.
