old non-expiring Hoppers strategy ???

Hi there!

I have been unhappy with the way that the new pricing structure for MYW tickets "devalues" my existing hopper passes, effectively making a day or two left on non-expiring passes virtually worthless, because of the way the MYW passes "front-loads" the entire cost of a trip in the first three days admission.

My family of four has two days each left on non-expiring passes, plus an additional "plus" that is good for the water parks, and are planning another trip to DisneyWorld.

If we want six days+ of access to the parks, we would have to purchase additional 4-day MYW passes for each of us. But a six-day MYW pass costs virtually the same as the 4-day. In effect, this makes our existing two-day passes valueless. We save nothing by having them.

However, our existing passes were biometriced to the whole family at once.
I gather that means that our existing passes can all be used by any of the four of us.

It occurs to me that possibly we could purchase only three, not four, new MYW passes (6 or 7 day) for our upcoming trip. The fourth person could use up all of our existing passes, even though they have been biometriced to various family members.

Would this work?

It might.
It is contrary to the ticket rules, however.

Why not save them for future use? On a future trip, you could do , say, a week long visit to Universal and just two days at WDW...At some point in the future WDW WILL most likely change it's pricing structure again.

For us, they are still great because DH sometimes has business trips to WDW - where he'll get a half day or two tops to hit the parks.

The value is in the hopper portion of the tickets. On your next trip, you may not choose to hop each day. I would save your older tickets and plan to use them when you will park hop. Even if you find you do not hop on your next trip, you can add a day or 2 onto your new tickets for just a few dollars. Hopper option is $52, regardless of the length of your tickets.

If your tickets were last used before the single finger biometrics were put in place they are not tied to anyone. The first time they are used they will then be tied to the user.
