Won't be going back for awhile. Waiting for magic to return.

Overall, we had a good time. Being with the family, not being at work, enjoying the attractions, but no Disny magic. I am the type that looks for magic, I don't expect it to come to me, but I was so sadly disappointed this trip. I did not meet a CM that seemed to remotely enjoy their jobs. I've never seen so many leaning on railing or walls and if I heard one sigh, I heard a thousand. There were lots of "situations" being handled with CM's by what appeared to be managment. Lots of personal conversations between CM's. this was not isolated to one park or one day, it was all week, everywhere.

At a very busy Tren-D in DD, 3 sales people were standing around a display loudly complaining about guests who come in and try to discribe what they're looking for. One said, "We just love our jobs, don't we." I asked to see the manager on duty and told her what had been said and that if the girls didn't like their jobs, I'm sure their were hundreds waiting to take their places. Was that very nice of me? Probably not, but it was not very nice of the sales girls to make me feel that my business was unwanted. BTW, I handed the items that I had intended to purchase to the manager and told her I would buy them elsewhere so not to impose on them.

I am glad that many are having as magical a time as ever. For me though, it's gone downhill even since last year. We will be spending vacation somewhere else for awhile. Can't say we'll never go back, but it won't be anytime soon. I have never returned from a trip with no desire to go back the way I have this year. It really makes me sad.

I'm sorry to hear that. Unfortunately many feel same way. There is another thread about lights at Epcot where people complain about cuts and lack of magic. I'm with you on CMs. While I had experienced only 1 rude CM in all my trips, lately I see many indifferent, inactive, sad and "just doing my job" CMs. It makes me very sad, since I believe CMs are a very good part of magic. Not sure what is going on, are they so worried about their jobs or they just not trained well enough. Whatever it is CMs are not happy and show that.

Wow is all I can say I am sorry that your trip was less than magical for your family. WDW is my happy place and perhaps I just overlooked a lot in January when we went

Sending pixie dust so that your next trip is more magical. Sorry about the semi~bummer trip. Keep all of those past magical trips in your heart...they will come back to you.

I'm sorry that you didn't find the magic this time, but sometimes I think if you go too often this happens. I too found that our last trip was less magical than I wanted it to be but we still had a blast. I also said that we wouldn't go back for a while, but two weeks later I was ready to book another trip. Give it some time, and wait a year or so, you will be ready to do it all over again.

We have never been during the Christmas holidays so our next trip is going to be next year sometime before Christmas. I think it will bring some of the magic back for us.

So sorry your trip hit some rough spots. I for one am glad that you called the sales people out! Bad customer service is my sore spot. I used to work in customer service for 12 years before I finally burned out. Nothing use to make me happier then when a customer came to me unhappy about a situation and I knew I had it within my power to make them walk away with a smile on their face. No, you can't please everyone, but it was my mission to try. When I couldn't give it 100% anymore I moved on. It takes so little to make people happy; a smile, really listening to someone, not making them feel like a bother but like a valued v.i.p.

A great deal may bring the customer in, but it is good service that keeps them. This goes for Disney and any place else. If the service stinks....well then keep your deal, I will pay more and go where I am appreciated.

I'm sorry your magic is lost...hopefully it returns to you soon!

We too noticed the same thing on our yearly 2 week July trip. CMs seemed so overworked, bored, exhausted, rude and short on so many occassions. Even with each other! We saw lots of supervisor/manager situations being handled as well.

Honestly, as Disney veterans we've seen a bit of a slump in this area, but we've seen it with the general public too. Guests, drivers, salespeople, etc. are getting ruder and ruder - it's not something that is just indicative of WDW.

We still enjoyed our trip, but we saw some downright awkward and yucky situations that were caused by CM rudeness and just plain apathy in their work. By the same token, we saw several guests who were just plain ignorant to CMs. It seems to be a cyclical problem...rudeness begets rudeness in many cases.

That being said, we still feel magic when we see the castle, watch the fireworks and see our babes hug the characters! So much magic is within ourselves and no amount of sour people can spoil those amazing memories!

Oh my, I am so sorry that you felt there was a lack of magic during your trip. We've been so many times ourselves, and the magic is what keeps us returning. After 27 years I still choke up the first time I see Cinderella's Castle every trip. That's a pretty magical experience to me.

It is a shame that working at Disney has become "just another job." The CMs used to be outstanding. I still find most of them to be very good, but luckily I have never encountered a rude one on all of our trips. I am sure I would have reported it as well.

As others have said, give it some time and I hope that when you are ready to return, you find your next trip more magical than ever.

I'm sorry you had such a bad experience.

I'm a firm believer that you can't control everything that goes on around you but you can control how you react to it. I agree with the poster who said you can't expect Disney (or someone) to create the magic for you - "magic" is what you make it. The CMs at Disney are human and if you let their bad day ruin yours, then you only have yourself to blame.

We just returned and noticed many of the same things. CM's seemed be be standing in groups talking. We waited to pay for merchandise in the MK while this happened. We went to the Flying Fish and Kona Cafe at the Poly and no one had the magic. This was our first stay at Bonnet Creek Resort and I must say their employees were much more upbeat.

We were there in October and could not have had a better trip (unless it was free)! Sorry your trip was not so good. We had very interactive CM's and most of the people around us were very nice and talkative.
