Big Birthday Surprise!! - The DIS Discussion Forums

I won't sleep tonight--we are surprising our DGD with her very first trip to DW. Her birthday is Mon (7 yrs) but her party is tomorrow. I have wrapped a HUGE box (think washing machine) with a a lid in Disney princess paper and am putting one gigantic castle balloon with all the princesses in the windows, and three others with Mickey and the gang, Minnie, and Tink down in the box. When she lifts the lid the balloons will float out with a card attached that I made (Disney characters and fonts of course) telling her we are going to Disney World! We leave Thanksgiving day, OMG this thing has consumed me for a weeks! pixiedust

Oh man, how cool! The balloons with the card is a great idea! I am sure your DGD's first Disney trip will be very special, she is so fortunate to have you for a grandparent. And welcolm to the Dis.

How Exciting! we are surprising our DD for her 8th bday. but we dont plan to tell her till we arrive in Orlando. We're just trying to play it off we are just visiting family . I can't wait!!

That sounds great! Much like our upcoming surprise for our kids! I got two of the mickey-shaped balloons like the commercials have and I plan to wrap them in a box and let them open a Christmas present early and they will pop out with a card attached saying they are going to Disney! We are doing it the morning that we leave... can't wait!!

Please tell us how it goes!!

Well we are home from the party and what FUN! DGD had the most perplexed look on her face when she opened this gigantic box and all the balloons floated out (picture the "what in the world is this?" look). When DD read the card to her, her chin hit her chest and I have never seen her with such a surprised look. When it sunk in, she couldn't stop jumping and grinning. I haven't downloaded the pics yet but I hope they came out ok. There were quite a few adults wiping tears and all the kids went nuts! Most everyone there is trying to hitch a ride

After hugs and kisses and thank yous I told her we were going to spend a few days with her great grandmother (her first time there) before DW (she lives an hour and a half away) and she was, to my delight, just as excited about that as DW. I sure do love that child.

So glad it went so well.. You have a great little girl there. I am glad she was as happy to see her great grandmother as WDW. Pls try to post the pics. Photobucket is a real good site and many use it on here. We took our oldest Granddaughter when she was 4 and had the best time with her. It is like being with you own children again and seeing WDW through new eyes. Nothing like it.
