hi all i have a son who will just turn 7 at x-mas and a 2 1/2 year old.
i know this sounds crazy but we live in a small town and we rarely buy toys for our boys...or rarely go toy shopping. so just wondering what the "hot" toys are for the year...or maybe what u are buying for your boys...anything would be a great help! my 7 year old loves games, he has a ton of ds and wii type games, he also loves arts/crafts. thanks a million!!! |

I have a DS who will turn 6 exactly 1 week before Christmas. For his birthday he is getting a Nintendo DS along with 2 games. He doesn't play video games all that often but we have about a 35 minute commute to taekwondo 2-3 teims a week and after getting up around 6 am to leave for school at 7:15, he is tired by the time we get into the car and has often fallen asleep. It is not easy to wake him up so if I can get something to engage him for that time, it will be good.
On his Christmas wish list is: Star Wars Legos and Star Wars play stuff. He LOVES Star Wars right now. Playmobil. This in my opinion is some of the best play stuff ever. I love playing this with him. Backugan. Can't really explain what it is but if you use a search engine, you'll find out. He really likes this too. Classic Operation game. I think it'll be great for motor/thinking skills. His list is still a work in progress that we need to get to family soon since they started asking over a week ago. |

My son just turned 7 last week. He hasn't really been into Legos yet, but we went to Toys R Us the other day and he about flipped over all the Lego sets. That is what he wants for Christmas. My daughter got the Playmobil pyramid and a couple of accessory sets for her birthday (she's 9) and they both play with that all the time. My parents got my son the Fisher Price Trio castle for his birthday and that has been a big hit with him, my daughter and the neighbor kids. All of the above are on the TRU website.

My ds is 8. His wish list includes a DS, Star Wars legos, a Battle Striker game (or something like that), a Nerf Tag set and even more Bakugan. Most of his friends have outgrown Bakugan but he still likes them and has his own battles.
He's always liked things to build with - blocks, legos, lincoln logs, tinker toys, etc. He also likes board games - one of his favorite is Goblet - it's like tic-tac-toe with a twist and he can consistenly beat me. |

I think it's a good age for a new bike, if he doesn't have one that is big enough for next year and beyond....We did that last Xmas - got a nice one at Kmart on Black Friday. This one is big enough to be good until he's 9 at least, I'm guessing.
For my ds 7 (already did the bike thing last xmas) he will be getting: MP3 player (cheap one filled with songs from his CD's - jonas, radio disney, etc) Knex set Maybe new roller blades Toy Story Mania Wii game (this one will be for the whole family) Maybe new board game....still haven't decided on one Maybe used (if I can win one of my darn ebay auctions) set of chapter books That'll be pretty much it for our house. I have given as ideas for an aunt/uncle - Scrambled States game and DVD. |

If he likes to create stuff, DS7 LOVES his Snap Circuit Jr set. It gives you a grid & several pieces to create electrical patterns. He is playing with it now and driving me crazy experimenting with running the fan and spinning the disc in different directions.
You can make light bulbs light, make sounds, run the fan, I think there are about 100 activities you can make. Everything is numbered and has pictures so it's easy for him to snap them together on his own after awhile. I might get him an expander set this year because you can make more stuff by adding on the larger kits.
