So, what are ur major Christmas purchases lol?

I have set aside just under a grand for gifts this year (boy was it HARD to save that too lol) and now I have to actually spend it on the girls and my fiance...sigh...why can't I just hoard it lol...

I think this will be my so far list:

Remy (11)- ipod, guitar, books
Holly (5)-some DS games...no clue what else...she wont give me a list lol
Phil (fiance)-XBox 360, clothes...

Personally I wanted to just blow it on a trip to WDW, but was vetoed..can you believe that?! They said they want to do Disney NEXT YEAR instead lol..

So what are ya'll big gifts this year...

We don't buy gifts for many people, but I do go a little overboard for the grandchildren. Probably don't spend as much as some might. I have asked for lists from them by Thanksgiving, and I hope to get my shopping done the following week. I'm hoping to do most of it on-line this year, sitting at my desk, in my pajamas, sipping coffee. Sounds so much nicer than going to the stores with the crowds of people.

Not too many big gifts this year, just an ipod touch, a slacker personal radio and a sony reader.

Our big purchase this year is an Apple laptop. It will be for both my Dh and I to share though.

my DD is getting a cell phone, i think (should be free with contract). i've bought her a few DVDs, 3 DS games and a couple of things from american girl. i'm stumped on other things to get her. she already has a tv, dvd/vcr, mp3 player and nintendo DS. not much left, except a computer...which she has, but it's an old hand-me-down and doesn't work well. i'm honestly stumped.

I have no idea what all we are getting for the kids, but each one is wanting a laptop. My oldest DD needs one because of school so we will get her a nice one, the other two are young so they will get cheaper ones. They all want clothes and other things too but I have no idea where to even start. The older they get, the harder it gets. I better think of something or it's gonna look sad Christmas morning.

I'll bet your daughter will love the cell phone! A friend of mine bought his daughter a cell phone for Christmas. As she was holding the present in her hands and was about to unwrap it, his wife went into another room and called the phone. Her gift started ringing.

OMG thank you! i hadn't thought of doing that! she's been pestering me for a year because her BFF got one LAST Christmas, and now that she's in beginner band and has dance classes too, i'd feel better if she had one. i want to get her something special from us too (phone would be from santa) but funds are limited and i haven't seen any good laptop/desktop deals yet. i may be one of those sleep-deprived people stalking wal-mart all night long on thanksgiving night to get one of the 5 computers they get in for black friday...LOL.

Cute idea. We gave the kids texting for Christmas a couple years ago and I had sent them a text message on their phones. I wrapped the phones up before the kids got up and they had a confused look on their face when they opened their phones (that they had had for a year). When they lit up the screen and saw the text they got it then though .

DD wants a digital camera, the boys, no idea. We don't spend anywhere near $1000 for Christmas so our "big" purchases aren't all that big.

LOL, this is the first year I have had this much to spend...almost 500 of it was from the spare change jar and recycled cans or I wouldn't have near this much saved lol..who knew we had THAT much left over change thru the year and we took all our relatives cans to be recycled all year (they were glad to get rid of them and it adds up!). Not all of it will be spent on those three tho lol...we are expecting a baby at the end of Jan so SHE will be getting some gifts too...like a stroller, car seat and diapers lol...I think the only pricy items will be the ipod and xbox...the rest I have gotten used or at awesome prices lol. I am hoping that there will be some good deals on the ipod or xbox closer to C'mas cause it literally makes me nauseous to spend that kind of money on two freakin things...I am super thrifty aka cheap normally lol.

I bought us (read me) a XBOX360. I bought the Limited Edition with 250GB and 2 controllers w/ Modern Warfare 2 game. It was $399....ouch.
DH wants a floor jack and a creeper. (He posted the ad on my desk)
The kids? Probably will get to choose an XBOX game and a controller.

And that is it, other than clothes, candy and small stuff.

we're scaling down this year so there won't be any real big (or expensive) gifts. My DS (13) asked for a laptop or a psp but after we explained the whole scaling down thing he asked for a popcorn maker for his room or a throwback nba jersey, clothes, itunes gift cards and movie theater gift cards. My 2 year old DD is racking up because the gifts we've purchased already were all pretty inexpensive. We bought Candy Land at Toys'R'Us for 3.99, a new tea set for $10, fake food $10, a new dolly $15, fishy game $10, etc. We'll probably get DD a playdoh set $10, a snow sled $15, new earrings $10 and maybe a small table and chair set $25. I'm contemplating going the homemade route for my nieces, nephews and my parents, just haven't thought of anything good yet.
