Disney Wonder November 25-29th
Hi,
We are really excited about our first cruise. Has anyone done this cruise over Thanksgiving? I have read a lot of negative reviews of the Nassau stop. We have a 3yo DS and a 6yo DD, and have not found a lot of shore excursions that would work well for both of them (especially the case on CCay). We have considered just doing our own thing on Nassau....taking a carriage ride, going to the Straw Market, going to Ft Charlotte. What in your opinion is not to be missed on Nassau? Should we plan a shore excursion or head out on our own? Is Nassau easily walkable or would we need to plan to take taxis to most places? On Castaway Cay, I've found it somewhat challenging to find things to do with the 3yo and 6yo. We would really like to take both of them snorkeling...if we bring our own gear for the 3year old would they tell us we couldn't take him due to the 5 year old limit...or is that just for renting their gear?? Would it be too cold this time of year to snorkel at CC? Also, if we wanted to do the Ray snorkeling trip with the 6yo, is the childcare at CC pretty good? Also, a ship question...our 3yo DS is mostly potty trained, but I find that when he goes to a new location...he gets distracted and "forgets." Would the workers be willing to remind him to take potty breaks from time to time? Thanks so much in advance....I know I've asked alot of questions .

well i normally would not respond to this, since we are a kidless couple..
So you will get my .02. Treat CC Day like any other beach day you may do.. you don't really need paid excursions. they have lunch on the island and play area for kids you can take the tram to the observation tower. via the adult beach.. tons to do. music shopping.. Nassau stay on the ship.. or do some of the thing you mentioned above remember BARTER with the locals, 50 can be had 4 40! most of the time... I hope to meet ya on the ship! You know, like 9 days and we r going on a cruise! ![]() Gooble gooble We booked yesterday! peter & Jenn I think the water will be fine for swimming!

We also have an almost 3 year old and a 6 year old, and in Nassau we plan to take a taxi to the Ardastra Gardens - NOT the excursion there, which adds on a tour that we don't want (kids wouldn't be interested). I'm told taxis there are $4/pp and the gardens are I think the gardens were $15pp.
I was there years ago, and its a nice small zoo, with a fun flamingo show, and you can feed birds, etc. I think 2 hours max to do the whole thing. Other than that, I'm not a fan of Nassau. I thought about going over to Atlantis for the aquarium, but we are members of the Shedd here in Chicago, so it wouldn't be that spectacular for the boys. |
