well im back

for once im not sure how to start one of these posts. in short my holiday was ruined. well at least half of it. we booked to stay in the santa fe as usual. we got there and our room was freezing. it was also very shabby, with ripped wallpaper and peeling paint halfway up the bathroom door. normally that wouldnt even bother me, i could ignore it. im not fussy. ash had been sick and on an antibiotic so i hoped the heating would kick in. it didnt. the room was freezing all night. i thought it might have been turned off so i fiddled around with it the next morning and hoped for the best. again we came back to a freezing room i had had enough at this stage so i went down to reception to complain. i explained that ash was sick and tired so i would need it fixed immediately or to be moved. they promised they would send someone straight away. 30 minutes later i was still waiting. i rang and explained again and they said they could send someone in an hour or i could be moved. it was 11 by now so i said i would move. i went to get the new room key and when i came back someone was looking at the heater. we left as i had already handed back the key. the new room seemed fine at first. then i saw the biggest spider ever crawling about. my mam threw it out the window. then i lay down and looked up. all over the ceiling were these really gross shell like bugs. my mam killed 11 of them that night while i lay there crying. it was really late so my mam said just try to sleep. we kept the lights on and slept at the end of the bed. well i didnt really sleep. the next day in the same spot where she had killed them all more reappeared. i rang reception and explained and asked them to get rid of them while we were out. we came back and the room hadnt been touched. i rang once more and i really really complained at this stage i had had enough. the night manager then came to the room and had a look. he offered me a new room and a free meal in the santa fe or an upgrade to the sequioa. needless to say i took the upgrade.

yes it was a lovely hotel and i enjoyed my stay there but there were already three days of my holiday ruined at this stage. three nights in three different rooms and two different hotels. packing between ten and eleven each time. it really took its toll on me.

i will never ever stay in the santa fe again. i am so dissapointed as i was really looking forward to my trip.

to be honest i never really got into the whole christmas spirit. i spent too much time being stressed. it didnt really appeal to me the way halloween did but then again that time i had no drama with the hotel. i know it may not seem like such a big deal and the upgrade was nice but it couldnt give me my time back.

Oh poor you, that's an awful shame. Did Ash get better, and did she enjoy herself?

she was also scared of a lot this trip. most of her fave rides are now ones she wont go on

Sonya, that is such a shame. It's really not good enough to offer sub-standard Disney accommodation - it takes away the magic.

You poor thing, that sounds absolutley awful. I can see why the whole trip felt ruined, I would have felt the exact same way especially since you had been looking so forward to it.

Like i suggested to you, write or e-mail Disney and complain again. You deserve some sort of compensation.

i really hope they sort out whatever problems they are having. i used to love that hotel. the manager was very good, he rang straight down and told them to put the room out of order. he looked pretty disgusted by it. they seemed to be having quite a lot of problems so hopefully they will realise they need to get it sorted asap

yes i am currently booked in there for march. to be honest i am not staying there again. i wouldnt look forward to it. i would worry about what if it all goes wrong again and i would be looking for faults. i know it sounds a bit ott but the problems with the hotel had such a negitive impact on my trip i wont risk a rerun of that. im not sure what i am going to do as yet. i just know santa fe will not be the hotel i will stay in.

I'm so sorry to hear about the Santa Fe. I hate all bugs & especially spiders, so I wouldn't even have been able to spend one night in the room. It is just not acceptable to give out rooms in that condition & I agree with some previous posters about complaining - did you take photos? It's awful that your holiday was ruined, especially because you were so looking forward to going & I hope that it hasn't put you off going back again - but maybe not to the Santa Fe! I'm only glad I cancelled my booking there for next weekend now.

That really is a terrible shame. Shouldn't happen at all. There have been a few bad reports lately about the Santa Fe. Hopefully you will get some sort of compensation.
