Jim Lewis Gets New Boss

Jay Rasulo head of Disney Parks and Resorts is out, and he is replaced with another finance guy, Tom Staggs former Disney CFO.

What changes can the DVC expect to see under the new management?

Bill

I would expect to see few, if any changes. Parks & Resorts really has no bearing on the day to day operation of fully sold DVC resorts, other than deciding what services and amenites may be offered as part of the "common areas" at the combined DVC/Cash resorts. Disney's main profit from DVC comes from sales and the 12% management fee built into our dues.

If areas of the parks are doing poorly, we may see increased discounts to enourage DVCers to dine at a specific location, or book a specific tour, or to increase ticket sales to both parks and hard ticket events. If the parks are doing OK, then probably no changes at all.

The announcement that overall Disney quarterly operating profit is better than initial estimates leads me to believe the latter.

Jim Lewis now reports to Tom Staggs. Staggs has all Parks, Resorts, including the DVC and DCL. Sometimes the new guy makes changes just to prove that he is the new boss.

AT&T Headquarters was moved from San Antonio to Dallas when they got a new boss. Thousands of employees were forced to relocate and it cost the company millions of dollars.

I wonder if we will see major changes at Disney or the DVC?

Maybe they'll relocated WDW to Anaheim.

Yellowstone was amazing and is a lot more inviting than Disney right now. Could we be selling it all in the near future? Maybe.

Doubt much will change. Word in the Street is that for neither of them was this a promotion or downgrade. Both Staggs and Rasulo are considered potential successors to Iger whenever he may decide to step down and Iger and board want potential successors to have experience from different sides of company particularly parks and financial.

Staggs may have more say on future DVC growth than he did in the CFO role. But I doubt this will have any immediate impact on day-to-day operations.
