Sofa or Split Bed?

I am taking my mom on a cruise this summer. How will they make up the beds for the two of us? Will they split the queen bed or will they make up the queen and the sofa?

Which do you think is the better option?

When you get in the cabin, the bed will be set up as a queen, unless you request it otherwise. If you prefer it to be set up as two beds, let your cabin host know. (They stop by to introduce themselves that first afternoon -- if not call housekeeping and request it.) When they do turn down, the beds will be how you want it.

I usually travel with my sister. We usually keep the bed a queen and use the sofa. (If we split the bed, we both have twin beds. If we use the sofa at least one of us enjoys a larger bed and I don't mind the sofa, it's comfy enough.) We usually forget to tell our cabin host to make up the sofa. No big deal. We just flip down the sofa the first night and the bed is made (pillow in the cabinet). And then they make it up every night after that.

I've done it both ways when crusing with my sisters. While I loved having the couch available as a couch the whole time, I think I liked keeping the queen full sized and just trading off with sis during the cruise. The sofa bed was VERY comfortable.

Splitting the bed would probably be best if one of you tends to go to bed earlier or sleep later than the other. That way the one who is awake can have the curtin pulled and the lights on in the 'living room' space.

We prefer to have the room steward make the queen split into twins, otherwise, at night, he or she will make out the sofa bed and there's nowhere to sit after dinner or in the morning.

In general, it will be set up as a queen when you enter. However, on my most recent cruise i was sailing with a friend in a HA cabin. I was delighted to find the beds separated when we entered the first time.

They will do whatever you request...and both have advantages. If you want the twin sized beds, you'll have more sitting room by splitting the queen and using it that way. However, if one of you prefers the big bed, the couch bed is very comfortable.

Thanks! I am not sure what we will do, but it seems that either way the sofa isn't that bad and two twin's will give us more room. I have to think on it some more.

When the beds are split they are still quite close together, so take that into consideration if you happen to be a light sleeper and your roomie snores or breathes heavily or tends to make middle of the night bathroom visits. If you suspect any of that may happen, opt for the sofa bed (It's comfy enough) and close the curtain.

Send a message via Skype™ to KrisannB
and if you decide to split the beds you can request this on your reservation before you leave. We did this on our last cruise and the beds were split for us when we first entered the cabin.

We like to split so we can have room to move, not have to clean souveniors off the couch, etc.

When me and my sister shared a room the room steward recommended we use the sofa bed and leave the queen as it gives more room in the room! We actually didn't mind so stayed that way as this way I got a seperate area (the sofa bit) where I could pull across the curtain and go to bed before my sister if I wanted to.

When I cruised on the Wonder with my best friend we were going to have the bed split into twins, but for some reason I can't remember we ended up with the large bed and the sofa made up the first night. I figured I'd deal with it for one night and ask our cabin steward to fix it the next night, but we found we loved the set up and the sofa was extremely comfortable. By the time we came in at night we were too tired to sit on the sofa and watch TV anyway!

I'm casting another vote for queen bed and sleeper sofa. I did this years ago when I sailed with a friend, and we just alternated nights on the sofa and the bed. If I wanted to sit down after dinner, I'd do it on deck or in one of the lounges. When I go back to the room, it's to go to sleep.

I always sleep on the sofa bed. One time we did the trade off and after my first night in the bed I requested having the sofa bed the rest of the time! I think it is super comfortable, and if your other person snores you can close the curtain and drown out the sound
