Dec. 5 AP World of Disney Shopping Event

I see they have advertised special sale pricing for Annual Passholders during this early morning event. In previous years...

1. Are there bargains galore, or great discounts on just a few product lines?

2. Is it jam packed chaos with people snatching up stuff everywhere?

3. Can I take my mom who is not an AP?

We'll be in Orlando, but not on WDW property yet - is it worth my while to drive down so early in the morning?

I'm also interested in hearing responses to your questions. This is also for DVC Members and we are traveling with another family who aren't DVC or AP holders. Can we take them with us? I was thinking she and I would leave the hubbies and kids at the hotel and spend a couple of hours shopping before we all hit the parks.

It doesn't sound too great, judging from this thread.

I went to it last year. Got there about 20 mins before the doors opened. It was chaotic after about 15 mins. Yes, there were some decent door busters but nothing I couldn't have lived without. Add to that the fact that all the same stuff was for sale in other shops that weekend....just not the doorbusters!
I won't be going back this year.

I have a feeling there won't be as many property wide sales this year as there were last year. I'm sure that last year the buyers had already ordered and received a lot of the merchandise before the bottom fell out of the economy in September. So they resorted to widespread discounts to get rid of the bloated inventory. I would hazard a guess that the buyers have kept the inventory a lot leaner this year. I know that if I see something I like, I'll be buying it on the spot on this next trip instead of waiting until the end of the trip - just in case.

I haven't decided if I'm going to the sale yet or not. I was working last year, so I couldn't go, but I'll be on vacation at BC this year so going is a possibility. I think, like another poster I read, I may go just for the "experience" and not specifically to shop. If I find something I really want - great. If I don't, no problem.
