DCL Missed the Boat! No 2 Bedrooms on Dream!

Is it just me or did DCL miss the Boat when it eliminated the 2 bedroom Cat 1 & 2 suites on the Dream!

I really liked the 2nd bedroom for my kids & now you have to book a 2nd connecting Cabin!
Not to mention that we are a family of six and now we have to book 2 cabins instead of 1!

This sounds a little like DCL Greed to me!

I think their intentions were to make the suites modular by having the one bedroom suites connect to a verandah stateroom and allow you to have a pseudo-two bedroom suite that way. The same goes for the Walt and Roy suites, they connect to a one bedroom suite and an verandah stateroom (and through the one bedroom to each other) so you can adjust your stateroom to your party size. Also, maybe they were finding the two bedroom suite weren't booking as well as the one bedrooms (pure speculation)? This way they can split them and book them separate if need be.

With that being said, I would prefer the seemless two bedrooms as well if I needed the two bedrooms.

Understand your comments, but..

Looks like on a ship that can hold 4,000 passengers they could have had this option.

As you say not seemless, on the Dream and if someone esle can book the other room first you are blocked in options.
Forces you to book more rooms and increases costs.

I am with you. I understand what they are doing, but I don't necessarily agree with it.

I totally agree! Unless they are planning on pricing the royal suites at 1/2 the price of the former Cat 1 & 2, then it'll cost much more to book 2 rooms than the 1 2BR room cost.

I really liked having the separate bedroom for the kids. Personally, with kids that go to sleep early (even on a cruise) I'd rather not have to go to bed when they do, or tiptoe around them in a room, or be confimed to the bedroom because the kids are sleeping in the living room. It was great last year having the full run of the suite while the kids were asleep in their bedroom.

I completely agree!

No cabin on the Dream will sleep more than 5 people, not even the cat R royal suites. A lot of other cruise lines have "family" cabins that are larger and will sleep more people. They are restricted to a minimum number of people and you have to have that minimum number of people to even price one.

ITA!! It seems they took a step backwards in terms of suites. While other cruiselines are adding bigger and more multi-room suites that sleep larger groups, DCL went with less. As an example, RCCL Oasis with a number of suites that sleep 8 or more ( those awesome 2 story loft suites) and NCL added many more two bedroom Courtyard Villas to the Epic.
