Question About Expedition Everest

My DD (7) LOVES Thunder Mountain, so when we were at DS she talked me into riding Rocking Roller Coaster. She hated it and was a little sick after.

How does Expedition Everest compare? She doesn't mind fast, but seems to have problems with upside down.

Any info would be greatly appreciated!

No upside down, similar to Big Thunder.

EE makes me sick to my stomach every time I ride it. RnR does not. Yes, EE does not go upside down, but it goes in reverse downhill quickly with a large turn in the dark that almost feels as if you are going upside down.

somewhat similar ride & track to Thunder Mtn, except not as jerky. You do have the backward in the dark which does have a sharp, banked turn that actually goes upward. This is an odd feeling, but not too bad. Definately worth a try.

Try sitting in the front. When I sit in the front I'm fine but if I'm in the back of the car I get dizzy. You definitely get a different feeling depending on where you sit. I still haven't gotten brave enough to try RnR.

great point. While most coasters have a 'bigger' ride in the front, you do tend to get more of the action further back.

I don't have an issue with RnRc's upside down corkscrews or the initial loop but the backwards part on Everest is like a backwards helix and it is a strange sensation which leaves me a little disoriented. The ride overall is similar to Big Thunder,a little more intense and smooth but the backwards section is a weird feeling.I've been on the biggest coasters out there 300-400 foot coasters that go over 100 mph and I seem to have more of an issue with the backwards part on this ride than those huge coasters, even stranger my 60 year old mom loves this backwards part,me not as much.

EE is bigger and faster than BTMR, but not by too much. Its no RnRC, so my guess would be your DD would enjoy it. There are no loops or corkscrews so no upside downs to worry about. The biggest, fastest drop of the ride is the one you can see coming out of the mountain towards the crowd. It is one of the best themed rides at Disney IMO. Don't miss it!

If she is scared of heights at all, I would not recommend it. I like both rides and the theming of EE is great. However, I can understand how somebody would be really scared on this one.

My first time on EE I felt a little "dizzy" after the ride. I have ridden several times since and concur with the PP comment about riding in the front versus the back. The sensation of speed and the g forces seem to be milder up front.

I find that on rides that have a lot of motion, I do better if I go with a medium or empty stomach. I try to avoid EE and RnRC after having a meal or big snack (like a Mickey Bar!). BTMRR and Space Mountain are fine with me any time of the day.

It doesn't have near the intensity as RNR coaster!

As the mom of a 7 year old, though, I have to say, I think EE is WAY scarier than TMRR. TMRR is definitely one of the mildest rollercoasters in the World IMHO and EE one of the most intense...This is just my two cents, but my 7 year old would be terrified on EE (and sure enough, they're all different--maybe you want to try it first on your own?)

I love EE but hate R&RC. The first few drops on EE are absolutely nothing to write home about - very similar to Thunder Mtn - little bumps really. When you go backwards, you'll feel a slight "tummy-flip". After that, there's one more steep drop, but I don't think as bad as Splash. Then it's clear sailing. R&RC is far more intense - the initial take-off leaves your tummy about 5 minutes behind you. You don't experience anything that intense on EE, plus EE (to me, anyway) has a smoother track.

I love BTMRR, hate roller-coasters in general, and did EE while we were there in September. We sat near the front. It was all right and I can see why people say it's like BTMRR.

*But* there is a part where you go backwards in the dark for what feels like a long time (at least to me), and yes you do feel like you "must" be going upside down. I don't know how else to explain it. It's because you're going at quite a tight angle and it's pitch-black so you get disoriented, so you feel like you've been going backwards for so long at such a tight angle that you must be upside down by now.

There's another drop after the big one and that one really bothered me, I don't know why.
