Question New Categories vs Old Categories

Hi All-

I'm sure that this has been posted before, so if someone could provide a link to the right thread, I'd really appreciate it!

What is the conversion from the old stateroom categories to the categories posted for the Dream?

If we're in a category 7 on the Wonder, what would it translate to on the Dream?

We haven't done our first cruise yet, and I'm already doing my research for the next one.

TIA...

Are you in a Cat. 7 that is mostly open but has a metal partial obstruction, or are you in the traditional Cat. 7 Navigator Verandah like this? It seems the Disney Dream will not offer any Navigator Verandahs, but will have aft staterooms with metal whitewall verandahs. They will be Category 6A: Decks 8, 9, 10 and Category 6B: Decks 5, 6, 7 - - all whitewall verandahs.

I am very sad about this, as the Navigator Verandah with its nautical atmosphere is my favorite. Even though a few of my cruises have been in a regular Cat. 5, I prefer the Nav.

I think we're in a partial.
We ended up with #7122- which according to the layout is a half Navigator.

I'd hoped for a full one- but it's our first cruise, so we'll make the best of what we have (unless DH decides to try for an upgrade at the port).

We're thinking about booking for 2011 onboard depending on what's available and the cost.

That should be just partially obstructed, where the metal curves down and blocks part of the view. It used to be classified as a regular verandah and was priced as such. (Correction: 7122 is a regular Navigator Verandah.) I am just one of those who enjoy the nautical touches of the total Navigator Verandah, in spite of less open view.

I'm sure you will have a great cruise and love your verandah. Both the Magic and Wonder are wonderful ships. There will be a lot of talk about the Dream in the next year, but until guests have actually sailed in the various cabins, there won't be any first-hand reviews and we only have PR, deck plans and "virtual tours" on which to base opinions. It's going to be interesting . . .

7122 is a regular Navigator's verandah cabin.
The 4 reclassified cabins that are now Navigator's are 6134, 6634, 7120 and 7620.

To the OP, there aren't any Navigator verandah cabins on the Dream. It goes from a cat. 6 (verandah) to a cat. 8 (oceanview).

Ooops - Thanks for correcting that. I always get 7626 or 7628 and wasn't sure where the half-Nav started without checking the deck plan.

And yes, no Navs on the Dream, but 6A and 6B are metal whitewall verandahs. Disappointing to me, but I'll still have the Magic and Wonder.

I'm still confused...... We love the navigator's verandeh, and are there really none on the Dream, or are they really at 6134, 6634, 7120, and 7620, or 7127? THANKS ANYONE!!!!!!!!!!!!

DCL does not list a Navigator Verandah category on the Dream. Apparently the cabins in that location are, as they state, "whitewall verandahs."

I take that to mean they are NOT adding those wonderful "nautical touches" that make them so desirable to some of us on the Magic and Wonder. It must be a cost-cutting measure, because I have never known a Navigator Verandah to sail empty and they are certainly more appealing than a "whitewall."

Thanks everyone-

I was trying to cross over from a Navigator on the Wonder to a (hopefully) Navigator on the Dream because the Dream will be doing the 4 night cruises.

I guess I don't understand why an ocean view stateroom on the Dream is 241 square feet when a verandah room is 203 square feet, including the verandah. We'd feel guilty taking a stateroom meant to sleep 4-5 (256 sq ft w/verandah) when we're only 2.

We're thinking of doing a rebook on our cruise in 2 weeks (depending on how much DH enjoys the experience) so that we can take advantage of whatever deals are offered.

Anyway, good luck to everyone that's thinking about it- and wish us luck.....

I believe you misread DCL's website, the 203 sq ft does not include the verandah. I copies the next line directly from DCL's website for the Deluxe Oceanview Stateroom with Verandah.
Size: 203 sq. ft. excluding verandah

According to the deck plans and my conversation with DCL when booking the MV, the spot where Navigator's were are going to be ocean view staterooms on the dream.

Thanks so much! All of the research that I've been doing on that website, and never found this page. I was going by the stateroom descriptions on the page where you choose your cruise type and dates.

Of course this calls for MORE research- and we have less than 2 weeks to go!

Not to muddy the waters, but I was just on the phone with DCL, and mentioned how much we were going to miss the Navigator's Verandah on the Dream, and she said "Well, we don't really know for sure as the ship is still being built." Does that mean they may have some after all?

There are pictures on here somewhere, but basically instead of plexiglass it's a solid white wall. If you're sitting on the verandah you won't see the water (have to stand up). Also, if you're sitting in the room you will see a white wall and sky, but no water.
