Which MK Land?

Hi everyone,

We're leaving in a few weeks for Disney. On the first day we will be able to get to our resort at 4 PM. We're planning to go from there to MK, even though it is only open until 7 PM. Then we're gonna hop to a later-closing park. So if you had from 430-7 PM in MK which 'land(s)' would you focus on? From my limited experience, I don't touch Fantasyland with a 10-foot pole unless it's early morning, but that's the only one I've ruled out. We are planning more days at MK during the week, I was just curious which land you thought would be best for just a couple hours in the early evening. Thanks in advance.

We're arriving at the Contemporary on 11/23 around 2 p.m. After unpacking, rest, and exploring the hotel, we'll head to the MK for the evening. My current plan is to go to Frontierland for dinner at Pecos Bill's. I've heard good things about their burgers but have never been. Then we'll see the sights there (with a two year old, we won't be riding the Mountains) and move over to Adventureland for Magic Carpets, POTC, etc. and Dole Whip for dessert! If DS is not too tired and the crowds aren't too heavy, we may stay for SpectroMagic.

Since the park is closing so early (I am guessing from the Christmas party) it seems unlikely that any of the lands will be better than the others.
I would probably head left into Adventureland and start touring through there. POTC usually has low waits in the evenings, but many of the other attractions are more hit or miss, especially if there is a Christmas party, and Christmas party participants can start arriving around 4pm.

Personally, I would skip the Magic Kingdom on that day, and just head to the park that will be open later. Unless 4pm is a generous estimate of when you'll arrive at your resort, and you are staying in one of the MK resorts, you may not get to the park until closer to 5pm, and then you'll have to take the time to get to the area of the park that you want to tour. Then, if you stay right up until 7pm you'll have to deal with the exiting crowds. They may not be as bad if it's a party night, but I'm sure there will still be plenty of people who will be exiting.

Usually if you dont care about seeing the fireworks, and hour before the fireworks is a great time to hop on any of the rides. Especially in Fantasyland. Fantasyland has the longest wait times during the day. Bust 7pm sounds early for fireworks. They may not have fireworks when closing so early.

to answer your question about which land I would go with Adventureland. It is the first land I always try to hit, POTC, Treehouse and Tiki lines usually aren't long and the Jungle cruise is pretty cool to ride when it is dark out.

Yeah, it's a MVMCP day, December 1, so no fireworks during regular park hours. You all have made good points. I think we'll go with Adventureland if we do it at all. Just depends on when we can get to MK. If we can't get there by 4:30 I don't think it will be worth it and we'll just head to Epcot which closes at 9:30. Thanks everyone.

From your signature you are staying at CSR, MK is long transportation wise. If you get to your resort at 4:00, check-in and stop at your room, you will be lucky to get to MK by 5:00. I would just head to Epcot.

we're (hopefully) arriving around lunchtime on the 15th. I was thinking we would settle in to our room at the Poly and head into Mk around 4pm. Our plan is to go to ToonTown, dinner at the Plaza, and stay until the 7pm closing to head home for an early night.

Is this a good time to visit ToonTown?

I have stayed at CSR many times. I think that it depends where you are at to know if you have time for MK. it takes a long time to get there and getting to your room could be a quick little walk or it could take as much as 15 minutes to get to your room depending on your area of the resort. Which one are you staying at?

Thanks again everyone. We have two requests, the first is "Cabanas" and the second is "no Ranchos." It's a big family trip so we'll actually be coming to CSR really early and the last of our family lands at MCO at 2 PM. So with the 4 PM arrival we have a large buffer I think. But we'll just play it by ear, no biggie. Thanks.
