Zhu Zhu Drama at Target today

So, my plan to acquire zhu zhu pets for my DS and nieces is to send DH to Target every day at 8am to get whatever pets and or accessories he can get to get something for each of them. The Target near my DH's work has a sign that says "one pet per customer", so he and the three other people that went to get zhu zhu stuff today each tried to get one garage and one ramp (they didn't have any hamsters). They got yelled at because the toy lady said it was one zhu zhu ITEM per person and that even if you brought your kid (not that DH did), the kid didn't count as a customer. So, DH got the ramp, but he was pretty mad about the lady and the sign. At our Toys R US, it is one hamster and 4 accessories per customer. Since the sign didn't limit accessories, he thought he could get two. Had the woman not been so rude, he probably wouldn't have minded. It is going to take a while to get all the stuff, but DH is determined to go every day and buy ONE item! That lady will be so sick of him by December!

Can he got in the morning and then again after work? If you pay cash, how would they keep track of customers coming into the store multiple times in a day??

ONE item per day?? That is ridiculous!

Our Target has a sign asking that people limilt themselves to four hamsters per purchase....I figure that is fair (one of each color??!!) but GEEZ!!

Maybe the company will start spitting them out faster- the way hamsters do in real life. Then there will be PLENTY for Santa to bring!

There won't be anything after work. They only got 4 ramps and 4 garages out this morning. Those are gone by now!

can he call and clarify? It might save him a few trips. If they are sticking to the one per customer, then they need to clarify that. I can't imagine your husband is the only one who has ran into this.

I would call just to let them know that you don't mind following the rules, but he doesn't need to be given a rude "talking to" by the toy lady. I would think in this economy that no one is in the position to poison the customer base. Sure someone else will buy it, they will sell out, but at what cost? You are letting us know, I'm sure your hubby and his co-workers are letting other people know, word of mouth gets around. People that your hubby & his co-workers are talking to are thinking: "why go to Target and have to make several trips when I can go to Toys R Us and get four hamsters in one transaction?"

And to add to your comment if TRU is out of them and I 'have' to go to Target to get one, it will be the only thing I buy there from them. If 'a store' is going to act that way, they will only get my business that I absolutely cannot take anywhere else. Aka for me, it's Best Buy. I will only buy something there if I have absolutely no other recourse. Therefore, I will only buy maybe 1 or 2 small items there per year. They lose out on all of my other purchases. I would rather price match their add at Walmart (and I'm not a huge WM fan, btw) then give the business to Best Buy. Stores are not really in a position right now to tick customers off. Why do you think Target went back to their price matching policy after several years of not having it. It wasn't because they wanted to do something nice for 'us customers.'
OP, I would definitely call the Store mgr and report how the 'toy lady' spoke to your hubby. You are not her child and it was not appropriate. She could've said the same thing in a much nicer way. And a child with their own $$ IS a paying customer. If it's one per customer, and a child has their own $$, THEY are a seperate customer. Now, if it said one per household or family, then they would not be entitled to a seperate purchase. I'd have fought them on their own words on that one.
Note to self, be ever so thankful that my kids are too old for these.

I thought the same things. I told DH to call after he cooled down and talk to ta manager. If he doesn't do it, I think I will. They do need to change that sign and they do need to understand that if I bring my kid or my neighbor or my whole family to buy one item each, you'd better give each person one item. I think the toy lady was a little drunk with power this morning!

I for one am a bit irritated by the 'your child doesn't count as a customer' part of what she said to your DH. Granted I can see how this would be for an infant and maybe even for a child up to age of 4 but what about the6 or 7 or 10 year old who wants to buy one with their own money? They can't?! Target is the easiest place for DH to check for the accessories as it's on his way to the gym but if he gets limited like this by an employee with attitude, he will be less than pleased.

OMG! Wow what a B(@!%.

And she has unleashed the holy terror known as a parent on a mission.

I have to say I'm so so so glad my kids have absolutely no interest in these toys.

Just be thankful you knew to get started early. Can you imagine trying to find these things after Thanksgiving?! Oh, holy haluey, what if you're one of those people who wait til Christmas Eve to shop?

I think she was just annoyed with the whole thing and on a power trip. I had DH come and bring our boys with him when I found some hamsters since it was 1 pet (actual hamsters) per customer per day. They had no problem allowing the boys to ring up a transaction each (ages 3 & 5) and pay with cash. And I could buy accessories with the hamster no issues since it's the pets that are hard to find, not the accessories.

Uhhhggg! All four hamsters were showing IN STock on Toys R us.com a few minutes ago and everytime I would try and click on one to put it in my cart it would go to my cart and say "there are no items in your cart" SO frustrating. They continued to show in stock for at least 10 minutes and I could not get one to go in my cart!!! I know that it was probably because people had scooped them up already and it was just taking a while for the in stock to update - but still frustrating!!!

What happened tothe search feature on the DIS? I was looking for the Zhu ZHu thread for help, but can't find it???
