Target, price matching and coupons

How are they when it come to price matching and coupons? Meijer has this GI Joe thing I want to get for my DS on sale for $75. Target has a coupon for get three free guys if you buy this GI Joe thing. Will I be able to get Target to price match, and then be able to use the coupon? Target's regular price on this thing is 99. Any thoughts? I don't shop at Target much, or enough to know how to be good at it!

If you bring in the entire Meijer ad and it is the exact same item, Target will price match. Purchase the item as usual (using your coupon and getting your extra GI Joe guys) and then take your receipt and the ad to customer service for a price match.

2 Questions:

1- Will Target price match on Black Friday?
2- Does Target take competitor coupons?

Thanks!

1. Probably not. The only retailer I know of who will match prices on Black Friday is Walmart.

2. No. They only accept Target and manufacturer coupons. You can use one Target and one manufacturer coupon on the same item. Example:
Bought Up & Monster's Inc on blu ray. Used these coupons (most legally allowed)
- Manufacturer $10 off Up
- Manufacturer $8 off Monster's Inc
- Target $10 off when you buy both Up and Monster's Inc
Since each item already has a manufacturer & store coupon, no more coupons are allowed according to the rules.

Here is a link to their policy:
http://pressroom.target.com/pr/news/...ise-facts.aspx

"We are confident we have low prices every day. However, if our guests happen to find a lower price on an identical single item – defined as the same brand and model number that is listed on a local competitor’s printed advertisement, during the effective date of the ad – we will match that price". Competitor’s coupons are listed as an exclusion.

I don't know about BF, but I pricematched the Tinkerbell movie and used the $10 coupon in one transaction right at customer service.

They place they get stuck is price matching their own ads when a coupon has been used.

I bought the Nerf CS-35 on Saturday for $29.99 less the $5 in store coupon so my total price for each gun was $24.99. On Sunday it went on sale for $26.99. The coupon was still available so my price would have been $21.99 after the coupon. They had to go thru all kinds of contortions to get my price down to $21.99 because the system was telling them that no price adjustment was called for because my "return" price was less than the sale price. I did get my money back, but it took 20 minutes and I almost had to go home get the guns out of storage and bring them back, return them and re-buy them. What a hassle.

I have found that sometimes it's easier to buy the item and then go to CS for the adjustment, and sometimes it's easier to pay for it, use coupons, and get the adjustment all at CS.

If you are using a Target toy coupon, do it at CS. Otherwise it lowers the price on the receipt, making it difficult for the computer to figure out what you should get. Example-Pictureka Flipper is $23.99 at Target. There is a $5 off Target coupon, and a $5 off manu. coupon. It was on sale at Kmart this week for $14.99 (so it should be $4.99 after PM and both coupons). I bought it first, and the computer took the $5 Target coupon off the price, making it $18.99 on the receipt. So when I went to PM, it only wanted to give me $5 back, not $10. If I had paid for it at CS, I could have started from that $14.99 price, then used the coupons-much easier!

HTH!

I hope this works for you - sounds like a great deal.
The only thing is that Target is a real stickler for it being the exact item. A lot of times Target has an exclusive version of an item so they won't do the price match. For example, they have a DVD may come with a "free" poster only at Target. That turns it into a different model number and thus, not eligible for price match.

Thanks so much! =) I was also able to score the up/monsters' inc deal, just wasn't sure about their black friday policy.

I did the Barbie DVD deal last week, using a Target coupon and got nothing but a hassle. CS checked with their manager who then told me that they would allow it this time, but would NOT allow me to price match AND use a Target coupon on that item again. I thought that sounded odd (that they would not accept their own coupon) so I called corporate and they confirmed it. So, according to Target corporate, they WILL NOT accept their own coupons when price matching a product. Unbelievable.
