World of Disney Store and AP shopping

Ok, I just read in the Monitor that on 12/5 The World of Disney will have their 2nd Annual shopping event for passholders. Can anyone give me a little more info on this? It says saving of over 50%. It will be our last day and tge event is early. Want to know if it is worth getting up for. Will it be crowded? I think that is the same day as parade taping too.

I went last year, and it was the worst experience I've ever had at Disney World. The store was crowded. The checkout lines were incredibly long, and they were having lots of issues with their cash registers (it took me 45 minutes to get to the front of the line, and another 30 minutes to check out). I was so frustrated that I wound up in tears.

Then, later in the day, most stores throughout WDW had sales for anyone that offered a lot of the same specials on items like t-shirts, Christmas decorations, etc. There were some doorbusters that weren't avaiable later in the day, and they did have some freebies if you got a wrist band (which we didn't).

So, in my opinion, it was not worth getting up at the crack of dawn to fight the crowds at the store, and deal with the issues. I will not be going to the sale this year, but I do hope that they offer the discounts later in the day like last year. Hopefully they'll have learned from experience and it will be better organized this year, but I won't be there to see.

That is what I was looking for. Thank you. For some, they enjoy the "hunt" however, not me. I love a good deal however, some deals are just not worth all the time and effort you need to put into it. Thanks. Maybe we will hit DTD later that day instead.

I was there too....incredibly bad experience. As noted, we did see almost all of the exact same stuff for sale at other shops throughout the parks that day, as well as other days after that. No, you didn't get to buy those 'door busters' but they weren't all that terrrific to begin with. Many of us just got caught up in the 'thrill of the hunt'...really regreted some of my purchases when I got home.

What time were you there? I was also there last year and found the store nearly empty. I got there as they were unlocking the doors, though. I didn't have a lot of shopping to do, but I was in and out quickly and felt as though I had the store to myself.

We got there as the doors were opening too, and there were just a lot of people all over the place. By the time we finished shopping, the waits to check out were crazy

I imagine that it would be like the absolute worst day-after-Thanksgiving shopping experience possible and multiple it by 100. But... having said that I'm half-way considering getting up and being there when the doors open so that I can be done by the time we need to leave for one of the other area theme parks.

I had a great time at the event last year,BUT I went for the "event" and not mainly for shopping.

I enjoyed the free Cinderella Pin and Tree ornament.I enjoyed the free Breakfast and the Character appearance by Santa Goofy.

It was fun to watch the Cast Members literally throwing some of the Doorbusters out to the crowd.

When I was through at WoD,I took the short walk over to Saratoga Springs and took a bus to DHS and on to TSM.It was a very fun morning.

I would say we got there about 20 mins before the doors opened, and there were a huge number of people there ahead of us. It wasn't too bad for the first 15-20 mins but after that, it was a free for all. Never again.

Yep, it was a 'scene', that's for sure. I had plush thrown at me by CMs..it was actually pretty funny. And I did enjoy my bagel and coffe. BUT, it would have been nice if people were careful about where they put their bagels down at when they were 'done' with them. I got a nice swipe of cream cheese on my sleeve from someone's left behind bagel.

FYI, it's shared between AP holders and DVC members. It's kind of strange; the info about each is almost the same, same date, etc, but both say "exclusive" to whichever one is getting the info. Same out at DLR (and same day). Strange.

I've never been but I'm going this year. I figure I'll try it once and if I don't like it then I won't go back next year. My husband however will be sleeping in at the hotel. I can't even get him to go shopping if a store is empty!
