Are there any free upgrades at the port?

We purchased 2 category 12 staterooms and were recently upgraded to 2 sideway category 11's on deck 6.

Does anyone know about room's 6015 and 6019? I'm very happy to be on deck six. I was just wondering if anyone knew anything about stateroom 6019. Does anyone know if its next to a crew cabin?

Also, are there any free upgrades at the port or I'm I just dreaming?

There are usually adequate people willing to pay for an upgrade at the port. You will probably not find any free upgrades at the port unless something has gone terribly wrong with your stateroom.

There are no free upgrades. But if rooms are available, you can upgrade for a much smaller fee than if you purchased that category (~$200 - $500 or $600 category 4 or higher, I think)

Don't worry about 6015 as it gets great reviews from other DISers here on the DIS stateroom report

http://www.wdwinfo.com/wdwinfo/cruis....cfm?Room=6015

6019 might be more "iffy" noise-wise:

If you're really worried you might go ahead now to see if they would offer anything else.

Good luck and have a great time!

We have stayed in 6011 twice and in 6015 once.

No problems at all with that area. We enjoyed that part of the ship.

If I remember right, the area just past 6019 is some sort of a storage room.

The crew keeps their housekeeping carts and supplies in that area.

Is there a thread on what to expect for upgrades at the port? We are interested in the category 4 family stateroom.

KCashner posted a very useful analysis here... http://www.disboards.com/showpost.ph...94&postcount=5

The rates/availability are always variable, depending on length of cruise, time of year, etc etc etc.... but she watches this topic closely and based on my experience, her calculations are right on.

Quote:
From KCashner:
Inside cabin to window--approximately $50 X number of days in the cruise
Window to balcony--approximately $50 X number of days in the cruise
Balcony to cat 4--approximately $100 X number of days in the cruise
Cat 4 to cat 3--approximately $100 X number of days in the cruise.
Cat 3 to cat 2--approximately $100 X number of days in the cruise
Cat 2 to cat 1--approximately $100 X number of days in the cruise

You can add the numbers together to figure out going more than one tier. For instance, if you want to go from a window to a cat 4 on a 7 day, figure window to balcony = $50 X 7 + balcony to cat 4 = $100 X 7, and expect to pay ABOUT $1050.

The above quotes are again relatively consistent with the price of $2900 for a cat 1 (approx $400 per day X 7 days) and the cat 3 (approximately $200 per day X 7 days). By my calculations I would have expected the cat 6 to cat 3 to be about $1400 (it was $1550) and the cat 6 to cat 1 to be about $2800 (it was $2900).

This is NOT an exact science, and then numbers of reported cat 1 and 2 upgrades are very small. It's just the best estimation I can come up with using the numbers I have.

Know that since you have booked 2 cabins you can only upgrade 1 of your cabins & keep the 2nd one or you can turn them both back in but you will only be given credit for 1 of the cabins.

Here's 1 of the upgrade threads: http://www.disboards.com/showthread.php?t=2228417
REad back a few pages and you should find 1 or 2 more current threads on the topic.
