What is a good price to pay for a turkey?

My mom always buys the turkey ,does the stuffing then we bring it over to my house put it in the oven and I do the rest of the cooking. Well I was at the store and I saw turkeys on sale for .40 cents a pound. I first ignored them because I never buy the turkey, but then saw a mob around them so I went over thinking it was a good price. I got a 23.25 pound turkey for $9.32 is that a good deal?

I guess it's not a bad price, but all our local grocery stores offer a free turkey (you have to spend $300 in over a month timeframe to qualify using their store card). We usually end up with 2 since my daughter has her card and I have one as well.

Considering I paid $58 for my 25 lb turkey last year - I would say that's a nice price! But I pay more in order to get a fresh one from the meat market.

I bought mine at 40 cents a pound and I think it was a good deal. Around here we don't have the spend X get a free turkey. Last year the cheapest price for turkeys was 88 cents a pound. So that is over half what I paid last year. I am happy. I figure if it gets cheaper then I can buy another. I have a huge freezer so I have the room.

Helped solve the mystery of Edward's mipple. My parents were both hippies, and I turned out to be the responsible one. I squealed and then I squished it.

You got a great deal! I've seen them for .69 and .89 a pound here at two different stores. You did good!

It's a good deal. We don't have any of those free turkeys in my area.

I bought one last night for .47 /lb. Around here thats a really good price. I think .40 a lb is great. I doubt you'll see it much lower than that

Wegmans here in Western New York have frozen store brand turkeys for 29 cents a pound with a $25 purchase. Lowest I have seen in years! Then competing Tops Markets say they will match any price. Wish I had an extra freezer!

DH is a grocery store manager at a high end store. Their big sale that starts today is $.39/lb, so you did good. Food Lion here does the free turkeys, but I'd hate to have to shop there for weeks just to get that Our close food lion is awful!

40 cents a pound is in the Walmart ad for this week through Thanksgiving Day. Each store is supposed to get 3 shipments of turkeys. Keep checking back if you don't get one at first!

Here in Arizona, Fresh & Easy had the cheapest turkeys at .37/pound. I picked one of those, but then I also picked one up at another grocery store for .43/pound. I have a chest freezer, so I will buy three during this time and they keep at least a year.

So you did great at .40/pound.

I bought mine today for .39 a pound at Harris Teeter with a $25 purchase, I was pretty happy with that. $8 and some change for a 20 1/2 lb turkey. Too bad there's a limit of 1 or I would go back and buy a smaller one to cook just to freeze the leftovers.
