Tell me about your morning routine
We'll be on our first Disney Cruise in Jan 2010 and wondering how the morning flows for everyone. What time do you get up, do you always eat at the same place, room service....etc? We will have dd8 and ds2 so once one is up we'll all be up. Thanks!

Except for the day that we had a character breakfast, we had the same routine every morning. We would get up (but no later than 8:00 a.m. - the whole internal clock thing - LOL) and head to Topsiders (buffet) for breakfast. Then, after breakfast, we would either drop DD off in the Club (on sea days) or get ready to go ashore at the ports. It worked well for us and it was nice to have a routine established.

I am typically an early riser. DH and I woke up every morning between 6 and 6:30, went to the gym for at least 30 minutes of cardio, grabbed breakfast or showered (depended on the day) and got ready for our day. The only day that we just got up and showered was our day in St. Croix and we had an 8:15 excursion.

I get up between 7:30 and 8:30 and head up to Cove Cafe for my morning coffee. Usually I just grab a muffin or pastry from their case, but if nothing appeals to me there I'll walk down to Goofy's and check their selection. Then I relax on deck till my first activity begins, leaving just enough to time to check my email beforehand.

Up by 7:00 (I can't sleep late, ever...it just doesn't work!). Go up to Deck 9 and have a cup of tea on deck. Go back down to the cabin and hubby is usually up by then. We either go for a walk around Deck 4 or go right to breakfast and they we usually park ourselves by the adult pool. We leave to go to any activities we may want.

Up at 6:00. Go to the pool deck to watch people put towels on lounge chairs that they'll never use. (Just kidding)

Such a loaded question....
You're answers are going to be as varied as we are all different. If the other 5 in my family are moving slow, I, or sometimes dh and I will wake everyone up, and head up on deck for a wonderful morning walk in the sea air. Then we wander down to get breakfast. Sometimes we go get the kids (teenagers) or sometimes they meet us there. We usually eat at the buffet in Topsiders, just because we like the diversity. I like tons of crisp bacon, somtimes an omelet. Two of our 4 will eat all the canteloupe and honeydew melon on the ship. If you eat in Lumiere's, it is a sit down menu. We never order in, we're always anxious to be out. And Woody.....you're right

Moring? I'm never up before the crack of 10 am.
I'm always out at Rockin' Bar D and then touring the ship till the wee hours in the morning. The ship has a whole different crew who work nights and I love to get to know people who don't usually get to interact with guests.

On sea days I'll usually go up and park beside the goofy pool while family gets ready and grabs a bite to eat. Later I go grab something. the whole "saving chairs" thing gets out of control!

Everyone starts the day differently, and it will also depend on how independent your 8 year old feels on the ship. I am up earlier than everyone else in my family, and I take my book, go to Cove Cafe, get a great latte and sit in the comfy chairs reading, drinking and looking out at the water (or, maybe, watching the boat pull into port). Then, if we're going into port, I go back to the cabin and wake everyone up. If not, I usually stay put (or move to the adult pool) and wait for people to find me. SO RELAXING!

that's us! We usually hear the kids yell "goin to Topsiders! See you later." then roll over and go back to sleep. Breakfast is over rated (and think of the calories you'll save)

Thank you for all your replies. I knew they would be varied but thought I could combine a few ideas and see if they worked for us. I think having to book actual times for Flounders has thrown me off too because I don't really know what our routine will be (other than afternoon nap for ds2). What happens if I reserve time now and then once we're on board we decide that it's not a good time? And what if my guy is really unhappy there and I have time booked? We only plan on using it a couple of hours each day...kind of like his MMO class. Just crossing my fingers that he's happy there.

I sleep in usually until about 9. I like to stay up late and since I'm in an inside room it's dark. DD tends to sleep in late too. We're on vacation, so no strict bedtimes for her. Now DH on the other hand loves the morning with his coffee by the pool.
