Get Child Swap Coupon All By Myself

Inspired by the Stolen Stroller thread.

Is at least one of these always true at each attraction?

1. The whole family, stroller and all, may proceed through the line up to where the child swap coupons are being given out,

2. The family, minus the stroller and one adult member who stays with the infant, goes through the line first and receives a child swap coupon.

Everyone goes to the FP check in line that is where they check the FP time. NOT where they take your FP. The CM that is at the very front of the FP entrance is the one who hands out the child swap pass. If you don't bring the child you are needing to swap to the line, you at least need to have them close/within sight so they can acknowledge you have a need for it.

That was our experience in August.

We've always got the Rider Swap ticket at the ride entrance .

With the exception of Mission:Space, we got it at the exit
and
Star Tours, they made us all wait in line together and then swap.

You DO need to have the non-riding child with you to obtain the Rider Swap otherwise EVERYONE would do this. Once the RS is handed to the non-riding adult, the other riding guests proceed into the stand-by line or FP line to enjoy the attraction. The biggest pain is at Soarin' where strollers are NOT allowed into The Land. So, you have to carry/walk the child downstairs to obtain the RS ticket.

In our experience, the child swap coupons were handed out at the entrance to the line. You don't take your child into the attraction queue at all. This was the case for us at Space Mountain, Big Thunder, Rockin Roller Coaster, and Tower of Terror.

Rider Switch (that's the official name) passes are almost always given out by the Standby entrance at a Fastpass/height restricted attraction. They will not let a child under the height requirement to even enter the queue, stroller or otherwise.

Of all the FP/height restricted attractions, Mission: Space tends to do things weird.

Sometimes (most times?) they give the Rider Switch pass at the exit into the activity area. This generally means that the person staying behind is required to wait there, near the doors with the child, instead of being able to wander the park, do some shopping (which is what you'd think they want you to do!) as usual. I have zero idea why they do this.

I have heard that Star Tours is moving back to using Rider Switch passes again. A bit surprising as it seems that Fastpass uses itself seems to have gone down there - even during SWW it was a walk-on and the Fastpass Return clock was actually missing its hands!

As always, complete details here.

Rider Swap for Star Tours is now outside. It use to be inside - waiting on the bench-ride ends- enter ride - hand off child- other parent exits - you ride. Now it is using rider switch passes that you receive at the entrance to the ride. The switch pass states that it is good for up to 3 people. We were a party of 4 so we had to get an extra ticket. We didnt' realize it until they stopped us but then let us go. We are a party of 6 but w/ 1 parent sitting out w/ds2. Do miss sitting in the waiting area bc it was soo much cooler than the hot aug sun.

FYI, all Rider Switch passes are good for three guests total.

Has anyone noticed if they have fixed the hands on the Fastpass Return clock? And of all attractions, an analog clock on a Star Wars attraction...

i used it on soarin last month for dd and the dh and i. our issue was ds had fallen asleep and you cant take the strollers past the benches inside. so i travel down and they sent me to the soarin desk. i asked and expalined our situation and they had no problem issuing it to me and dd, without dh and ds in the line.

Yeah, some people have reported problems with getting them at Soarin'. I didn't even think they allowed you to bring the strollers inside at all.

People who have sleeping children in strollers have been denied Rider Switch passes because they haven't been able to produce the child for verification. Although a borderline child needs to be measured, there is no reason to force waking an infant to be carried downstairs just to show they exist...there are easy solutions to that problem but Disney does not seem to think it is warranted.

well this was emh - so there was a cm posted outside who did rather rudley say you cant go past the benches. thats all i wanted to do! dh and dd were at spaceship earth and i was waiting for them, on our last nite when it had hit 112 that day. so i wanted to get him in some ac. there were tons of people with little people in strollers waiting.

im glad that i got a trustworty cm d/s then who gave it to us. and yes i could understand how that would be hard and that something should be done to fix it.
and once i got through with them i did have to measure her- shes just 40 inches! i didnt even bother to go back to hubby, i grabbed it went in line and then dragged her back u/s. what a schmoze!

You cannot take a stroller into any queue for any attraction unless you have a GAC which allows the use of a stroller as if it were a wheelchiar. This is intended where a child has a disability and use of an adut size (rental) wheelchair will not work.

i think what doconeill and i were talking about was that you cant even get to the line which is inside and downstairs to ask for a rider/switch card. so if we needed to have our entire party present to show it and one of your members is asleep in a stroller you cant. were not talking taking it into the line up.

at test track that nite i took all four of us rite up and got a swap card, no prob, cus its easy to access.

Amen. WDW, please change this at Soarin'!!!!!!! We are a family that had a sleeping child in a stroller and needed a RS. It honestly was NOT worth the hassle to wake DS4. Also, he is deadweight to carry when asleep. So, I waited upstairs for DH and the other children.

Within the past few year, they DO let strollers into the entry area upstairs. I waited with DS4 in a stroller there this past June. It was nice to sit on a bench in the A/C. They need more benches though.
