Christmas has come early to DLR!

Hi, just wanted to report that DD10 and I made a brief trip to DLR after school yesterday and are happy to report that almost all of the Christmas decorations are up! Inc. the big tree on Main St. According to CMs, the trip went up during the night on Monday.

We were also told by several CMs that the castle would be lit for the first time last time at 5 p.m. but it wasn't. We left about 7 p.m. and it was still only lit with the basic pink lighting. No icicles. Maybe tonight for Veteran's Day.

We had a great short trip and even after all our trips to DLR we did something new! We rode in the wheelhouse on Mark Twain. I didin't know we could do this until I read about it here awhile back.

The only xmas decor I didn't see were the wreaths and garland across Main St. Hope they are still planning on putting it up.

Oh, and the filmed the Christmas Parade for Christmas day on Monday, according to several CMs.

All in all we had a nice, quick trip. Only rode 4 rides but soaked up the atmosphere and had a nice break sitting on a bench facing the castle waiting for it to light up. (It didn't) As we sat there DD said to me it was nice just to sit quietly and enjoy the sights (and Christmas music)

I have a few pictures, I'll upload later. We also had some PP taken by my fav. PP photog, don't know if I'll order the CD though, I just received one yesterday that I'm in the middle of burning copies for friends.

I thought the official kick off for Christmas this year would be on Nov. 20th, the Friday before Thanksgiving, but as we were driving into OC yesterday I saw a sign saying Christmas at DLR is Nov. 13-Jan. 3rd. So I wasn't surprised to see some decor already up. I was surprised though to see the big tree. The tree that is usually in the area at DCA where they are doing construction has been relocated to the area just past Ariel's grotto, with Screamin' behind it. The wreaths are back up on the Golden Gate bridge and the letters out front are dressed up for Christmas (candy cane stripping) and Mickey and Goofy.

Have fun all!

Thank you so much for posting this. We leave a week from today and have never been to Disneyland during the holidays. Can't wait to see it!

Wait 'til you see the castle (all lit up), the fireworks, and the snow! It's so cool!

Boy I tell ya, there sure is nothing like DL during the Holidays. I am always amazed at what a wonderful job they do to deck out the parks.
DL at Christmas time is amazingly beautiful and for me there is no other time like it at the parks and resort hotels

The OC Register has photos of the tree going in - as well as other decor being put in place.

WARNING:
These photos are spoilers in many ways. If you don't want a sneak peek, if you don't want to ruin the magic for yourself, and if you don't want to see the "behind the scenes" of the decorations, don't look.

You have been warned.

this is one of our very favorite things to do, usually just as the park is getting ready to close. We get a hot chocolate, or decaf holiday mocha and sit there soaking up the music, lights, mouthwatering smells from the candy shop, and watch the people all leaving the park. We usually sit right till there's almost no one left, then for a brief moment I pretend it's all mine....

Thanks for posting this! I love the picture with Main Street reflected in the tree ornaments and and the one with the partners statue silouetted against the castle. Awesome!

Thank you for the report and the photos! I love your shots of the entrance and the castle at twilight--it looks so very wintery! (With temperatures hovering around 90 out here, I love the cold thoughts. )
