Do they check childrens ages at check in???

Hi i am going to disney later in the month and we booked the free dining, when i rang up the lady told me my 2 1/2 year old son would only be allowed baby food, which i know he will not eat! so i said that was silly as kids under 7 stay play and eat free on our offer, so she said i would have to say he was 3, i did this but when going through my booking confirmation today i notice it says i need to prove his age so i really dont know what to do, my husband recons i am being silly and they wont check its only if a child looks too old, but im convinced its all going to go wrong!!! Has anyone recently stayed at the santa fe if so did they check! i would never had done this had it not been said by their opporator!

I don't understand how they can possibly check, do they expect you to bring a birth certificate? I think you will be fine.

They could check by asking to see their passports.

Now I'm trying to remember if they only check the passport of the check-in adult or if you show all your passports. Afraid I can't remember. Sure someone will.

Some kids must be ok eating it I guess. I'm not too sure what will happen, hopefully someone will be along soon to give you better advice.

I just looked at the T&C for this offer and it states this:

"(2)2 meal vouchers per person (from 3 years old) and per night booked in a Disney hotel. Children under 3 years old will receive baby food. Vouchers can be used for lunch and dinner (except brunch) throughout and only for the duration of your stay. Eg: from dinner on the day of arrival to lunch on the day of departure (breakfast is included in your package at your hotel). "

seems odd though, neither of mine tolerated babyfood much past 18 months IIRC.

I hope you get something other than babyfood.

When we went last year we only had to show our passports on check-in, once we had the vouchers no-one ever asked for them again. That was just the normal half-board option though....I wonder if the inclusive vouchers state a childs age on them? If not you should be fine.

Thinking about this and surely they can't be checking passports, we didn't take ours into the parks daily we left them in the safe in our room......

Its at check in i am worried about, i dont think it will matter when we go to eat its just getting the vouchers, i dont want a big issue made about it at check in, but it seems a rediculous policy when its free for under 7' s anyway! i was thinking of perhaps sending my other half to check in and stay out of sight with my son but then it may draw more attention to the situation in some ways i wish i hadnt done it now but i would end up spending alot on food for him! Has anyone done this before - melanie i will be back the 29th nov so will let you know how it goes!

I've never had the rest of the family with me when I've checked in, they always plonk themselves down in the nearest comfy chair and leave me to the queue.
I honestly can't ever remember handing over passports in the past either.
I think/hope you're worrying unneccessarily.

Under 3, the child will not have a park ticket and then presumably no vouchers.

We took our passports with us to the park when our twins were 2 3/4 as we did not want any problems with them not having a ticket.

From memory, I think they checked all passports.

I had to show both mine and my Daughters passports when checking into the Cheyenne back in May, he had a jolly good look at them as well.

I didn't have to show them the time before that when i stayed there though.

as they booked your child in as three that will show on their systems and so thats what they are expecting so i would think you would be ok as they would have your pack ready with vouchers when you check in.

fingers crossed for you
