Tropicanna Inn

Tell me about it?
We stayed at Hojo last year and LOVED it. However, currently for our dates Tropicana is less expensive.

We are a family with a just turned 7 and 5 y/o who love to swim/play in the water. So, tell me about the pool.

However my kids do not like the walk home at night, so I am guessing the few less steps will be a plus, or is really a mute issues?

We ate breakfast in the room last year, but would love to just grab and go something--muffins, bagels, fruit and of course the two most important coffee and milk or juice. How is the free breakfast??

Also we are a mom and dad who enjoy our cocktail while the kids swim, how does tropicana camalot handle Vons delivery?

we may or maynot have a rental car, what is parking like?

Ok, basic info, what are rooms like--cleanliness and space

I m sure I lll think of more, but for now, thank ou!!!

The pool is nothing special like HoJos. It's ok and a decent sized pool for the kids. The hot tub is big.

It took us 8 minutes to walk from the park to HoJos. It took us about 4-5 from the park to Tropicana. It saves a small amount of time, but not a huge amount.

The breakfast is VERY limited, but it worked for us. A couple pastries and juice/coffee. You can also pay a buck for a bagel or some cereal. It was perfect for us because we just needed a small something to get us going.

Can't help you with the Vons.

Parking is plentiful.

Rooms are relatively spacious. Not as big as HoJos, but it's comfortable and not crammed. Our room was very clean as well.

I've stayed at the Tropicanna a bunch of times in the past and have enjoyed my stay. I think for us it was the location that we really enjoyed. Directly across the street! The breakfast is ok, pastires, muffins and juice. They are not that tasty but do the job if you are just wanting something quick. Most days we skipped it.

have a wonderful trip!

Between the Tropicana & Ramada Maingate, I would say choose the one that is less $. The Tropicana is closer to the Pedestrian Crosswalk (by a little), however, the Ramada Maingate has a food court, which makes it easy if you are budgeting for food & want someplace close to grab a bite.

The Trop is nice, we stayed there our first few visits to DLR. We liked it enough to go back more then 3 times at least. And once we used our time share points at the Peacock and we put DD21 and her DBF up at the Trop, that was nice for midday breaks. The rooms are decent sized, not huge but not tiny, the beds are not as comfy as the HoJo but they are fine. Let's see, the parking is good, plenty of spaces in our experience and they let you stayed parked there the day you check out. The staff is good, nice, attentive, if you need something they will help you with it. The breakfast, not so good, it's just yucky danishes, tiny donuts, coffee and orange juice really. Sometimes they had hard boiled eggs, sometimes they had cereal, sometimes they had good fruit. It really just varied, we did eat it daily but it wasn't that great. Don't chose your hotel based on the "free" breakfast, while it is free most of them aren't that great. As for the walk, the HoJo takes us about 7 min. the Trop took us about 5 so they are very comparable.

APs expired 1-3-2010, the girls are still good until 2-6-2010 but we have no plans for a visit before they expire. No plans for our next visit, it will be 2011 or 2012 before we head back. We've had fun DLR/DCA, we will miss you while we are gone. We took 14 trips from July 07-July 08 and around 16 from Jan 09-Jan 10.
