I agree 100%!!! There is a woman who works at my local scrapbook store and anytime she has to ring up scrapbook paper for anybody, she does the finger lick with almost every piece of paper!

LOL as you might have guessed this happened to me today............and I said something to the "licker"
I had to. Couldn't stop myself. It has happened too many times, I just couldn't keep my mouth shut.
I said it very nicely though, and I did tell her she shouldn't lick for her own sake too, she could get sick.
who knows what germs are on the money she touches.

Fair enough...

Just please, customers, return the favor by not fishing out damp dollar bills from your bra or socks...

Same thing for asking me to throw away your slurpie cup or 2 year old's half eaten banana...

I worked for quite a few years as a bank teller. You would not believe how many of my co-workers would lick their fingers then count stacks of nasty, dirty dollar bills!!! EEEEEEWWWW!!! We had a bunch of glycerine cakes on hand to "tackify" our fingers, but there were always a few tellers who chose to get all that germy, yucky money spitty instead. Gross.

Ugh, this reminds me of an experience in HyVee the other night. I stopped by to pick up some dinner, and the guy at the counter was eating. He then came up to serve my food without washing his hands. Ummmm, no! I used to work in a HyVee kitchen. I asked him to wash his hands, and I watched in disbelief as he walked back there, ran his hands under the water, and then came back. No soap or anything. It was maybe for five seconds, if that.

I promptly left the counter and asked to speak to a manager. I (politely) informed him that they just lost their sale because it is obvious the kitchen staff does not take food safety seriously. He looked really pissed off, and I could tell there was going to be hell to pay!

I don't care what role you are in: cashier, stocker, food server. I do not want your germs!

I had a grocery store bagger cough into my groceries the other day. She bagged and coughed -- and coughed and bagged. No covering of the mouth. I could see spit flying into my bags.

I finally just said, "Let me do that for you!" I don't mind bagging my own groceries.

The licking of fingers or not washing of hands is just disgusting.

I was at the grocery store once and someone who was obviously sick was the cashier. As he was scanning my groceries he wiped his nose on the back of his hands. I promptly advised him I was no longer interested in purchasing the groceries from him. I left everything on the cart, went back into the store and picked up another one of everything I had (it was only about 10 things), and went to the self checkout isle. If you have contact with the public don't go to work sick.

I come into contact with germs all day unwillingly because that is the nature of life. I'm not going to have them lathered all over the products I am about to purchase.

I saw someone do this in the deli section! She took off her gloves, then separated the bags for the deli meat after licking her fingers.

Needless to say, I never purchase meat when she's behind the counter.

Here is another one to make you gag!

I went to our local McDonalds drive through a few months ago, and handed the cashier my debit card. She swiped it, then while waiting for the receipt to come up, SCRATCHED HER HEAD WITH MY DEBIT CARD!!!

Yep, it was a while before I went back to that McDonalds.

One time I went to Boston Market and the lady serving the food got gravy on her finger. She quickly licked it off and continued serving. Maybe she did not know what she did. We asked her to wash her hands and start again.

We witnessed a Subway employee use his teeth to open a package of lunch meat. We reported him to the manager so that he could learn proper technique for opening things. That might work at home, but not in a public situation. He was young. Was something I could see my son doing.

We have recently witnessed the cashier finger licking thing for the plastic bags. My mother was grossed about it as was I, but I can understand how this might not bother the cashier. she was older and maybe not so into the whole germ thing. While yes, I was grossed out at the idea of her passing germs to me, I couldn't help but be more mortified at the idea that she was passing so many germs to herself.

I think the most disgusting thing was working the drive thru of Brurger King. We had a KFC across the street. There was a man who went to KFC drive thru first and was chowing down on a greasy piece of fried chicken as he pulled to my window. He did not even attempt to wipe his hands before digging for his money. Ewwwww.......I had to accept it.

When my brother and I were little, my mother caught my brother licking the top of the ketchup dispenser (you know the kind that look like a sharpened pencil on top). Mom had to give it to the manager for sterilization. Sometimes the individual packets are better

I would rather see her scratch her head with a debit card than place it in her mouth. It alwasy grossed me out when people would put money in their mouth to hold while digging for change.

Oh, I hear you on that one! I was a grocery store cashier back in high school, and I had to accept money that women would pull out of the BRAS! And it was warm and damp, oooooooh gross! I always put that money on the bottom.
