We will stay at either Old Key West or Saratoga Springs on our trip in January. We looked at the menu for Shades of Green and thought it sounded pretty good. Will we be able to go over there to eat even though we're not associated with the military? Also, I only saw one review for the buffet there and it wasn't very good, so if anyone else has experienced the buffet, I'd like to hear what you thought. Thanks.

Honestly, I would stay away from the food at SoG all together. When we stayed there, we found ourselves walking to the Poly to eat rather than eat there. We tried the restaurant Mangino's, and the dinner buffet as well as the breakfast buffet. The only decent meal we had was the breakfast buffet.
Just my opinion! We were disappointed with the food, especially that they closed the sports bar by the pool. Stay away if you want good food.. save yourself. |

I stayed at SOG in May 08 and Jan 09 and our first stop every morning was at the breakfast buffet. The quality of the food was just ok, but the price was great. (If memory serves it was around $8 for adults and less than half that for kids.) They have Mickey waffles and a selection of eggs, breakfast meat, cereal etc. Can't comment on lunch or dinner, but I am staying at the monorail resorts next trip and I plan to walk over from the Poly for breakfast on a few days.
The resort is about a 10 minute walk from the Polynesian. They have a gate for vehicles but I have never had to show my military ID to get on site. |

GREAT Resort but horrible food! We will be staying there in March and we just finished our ADR's and dining plan, none of which include eating at SOG.
