Perks of booking a cruise while on a cruise
If we book a cruise while on a cruise, what perks do we get? Do we get shipboard credit? A discount on our next cruise? Something else? Nothing?
I'm trying to convince DH to go on a DCL Dream cruise, but since we don't know if he'll get sea sick, we don't want to book too far in advance. If he doesn't do well, we wouldn't want to cancel a reservation. |

We rebooked onboard our cruise for a 7 night eastern in a CAT 11. For booking onboard we got: 10% off base price, & $200 OBC. We transferred to a TA and got another $100 OBC from them as well.

How did you transfer it to a TA? Can you designate one when you re-book on board or do you transfer it later?

you can tell them who you want for your TA when you book on the boat. I booked a 4 day and got 10% off plus $100 in credit and an additional $75 from DU for listing them as my TA.

For rebooking while on board you get 10% off the cruise fare portion of the ticket on the next cruise and an onboard credit based on the length of the cruise you are booking. The current max is $200 from DCL. Beginning with the 2011 cruises, the amount of the OBC will also be tied to the number of previous cruises you have done on DCL.
As above, you can name a TA at the time of the onboard rebooking (have the agency name and phone number if possible). With the "big" ones, you'll just need the name. If you name a TA at the time of the onboard rebooking, the TA gets the full commission; if you transfer to them later they get a reduced commission. Many TAs will give you an additional OBC as a thanks for naming them. The only downside to booking on board is that you tie up your deposit money. If for any reason you can't sail, you can move your date or get a full refund provided that DCL is notified before the penalty date. |
