OT: DS needs help with Keyboarding

DS8 is struggling with keyboarding in school.

Would anyone have any recommendations for keyboarding programs he can practice at home? I would appreciate any suggestions.

Thanks.

When I was an elementary school computer teacher we used Mavis Beacon software to teach keyboarding. It is a game based instruction. Our local library lends out the CD-ROM so you can always see if yours has it so he can try it out.

Does keyboarding mean typing? If so, this free, online program is wonderful. My nine year old used it to learn how to type: http://www.bbc.co.uk/schools/typing/

How old is your son? Does he like Spongebob? If so, I have a Spongebob typing program somewhere around here that DS doesn't use anymore. I would be willing to send it to you.

This link is not working for me for some reason. I'll have to try it later on Internet Explorer rather than AOL.

Thanks for all the suggestions. I friend of mine has the Mavis Beacon software and is going to lend it to me. I will try that out first.

Thanks again.

This may not be exactly what you're looking for, but a fun way to work on keyboarding skills.... The Webkinz website has a game called "Lunch Letters" that's fun to play.

I have been looking for something to help my boys learn to type. I had my oldest try this website, and he loved it! Our school doesn't teach keyboarding until 6th grade. I think they should start much sooner.

Lunch letters on webkinz is definitely fun. Even I like playing it. Otherwise on Facebook (he could use an adult's account or make his own), there is a fun game called Typing Maniac.
