I'd choose the agent/agency who gave me the best service. If there was an onboard credit attached, that's a bonus. The service is the real issue.

I chose SW because of a link on a website that I found sometime last year - WAY before I found the DISboards. I have been very happy with our service and response time from our SW agent and have no plans to change now - she is gonna be booking our Dream cruise for Dec 2011 when those bookings open up. HOWEVER, had I known about these boards and done a comparison on OBC, I PROBABLY would've chosen DU. At this point, though, the difference in OBC is not significant enough to make me switch. I like the relationship I have with my current TA too much.

That's my story and I'm sticking to it!

Agency is nice, but agent is more important. I have had lousy TAs from great agencies and great TAs from lesser-known agencies.

I've even worked with a TA from a big agency who had a fantastic reputation, but she and I just didn't mesh. IMO, relationship is important.

I am extremely happy with my travel agent from MouseEars Vacations. Excellent service, extremely knowledgeable (she is a Platinum herself) and gets back to me almost immediately if I have a question. And boy, do I have a lot of questions as a first time cruiser. Feel free to PM me if you would like.

Dreams for us...

Dreams (well actually it is Tracy) is the best... I really do not know how she does it! She remembers all of our preferences and always comes up with the perfect room... never a problem, she does all the work and we just walk in and have a fantastic vacation...

We recently booked with Dreams Unlimited. Our agents name is Dagny. She gave us such remarkable service and quick responses to the thousands of questions I seemed to have
I highly reccomend using her services! Plus we got some OBC!

We had our onboard booking transferred to DU and got Tracy. Having a little trouble today. She transferred our reservation for a B2B in 4/11 but 1 of the reservation numbers isn't working and I can't even see what the price is. Hopefully it's ok and I didn't lose a whole day in trying to get another category.
Keeping my fingers crossed.

Me too! Probably the same gal, and yes, she is patient... I swear sometimes she must think I am a complete idiot with the questions I ask or a detail I miss, but she is always on her toes!!

I have an agent who I love she knows everything about DCL and the Parks, I am not sure if I can post her website here, so PM me if you want a link to it. She has twice now called me to let me know about price drops and adjusted my booking accordingly. She always anwsers e-mails in a day as well as phone calls.

I compared DU with SW last year and SW was the better offer with price and OBC.
I used them again this year without even doing a comparison since they offer such a good service.
fingers crossed that I will be using them in the near future too

If you transfer to a TA, can you still use the Disney website to make payments and book Palos, etc. or does everything have to go through the TA?

Yes to Booking Palo and Excruisions
No to payments
If you use a TA or transfer to a TA, your financal agreement is with the TA and not DCL. You will not be able to make payments or view your balance online or even see if you are paid in full on the DCL website. You will not be able to call DCL to find this out either, they will always refer you back to your TA.

Your payments will (or should) be made by your TA directly with Disney when you request them. For DU, you go through the DU website to let them know that you want to make a payment.

You still go directly to the Disney website to make Palo, excursion, Nursery, Spa reservations after you're paid in full (and at the appropriate date), and do online checkin.
