faucet shopping vent

I need a new kitchen faucet and it is driving me crazy!!!! I finally figured I would go with this one, http://www.faucetdirect.com/delta-97...penser/p600609 but I don't know if it will fit my existing holes. not even sure how to measure and such. I do NOT want to cut into my granite, and the plumbers I have won't even if I wanted to.

arrrrggggghhhhhh

also, the one I think we are going with has a pull down sprayer instead of a side sprayer like I currently have, but I figure the handle can then go where the current side sprayer hole is. is that wrong to assume?

any tips?

When we had our kitchen sink replaced we went through Lowes or Home Depot. I wouldn't have the slightest idea on making any choices without some expert help.. Good luck

is the faucet already out? If so, can you just take a paper and pencil and just copy where the holes are and head to HD or lowes and just check and see.

unfortunately the faucet isn't out, so I'm sitting there trying to guesstimate. I think that is why i am so worried about making the wrong decision.

will take a ride over to home depot later and talk to them I guess.

what about climbing underneath and taking a look, you should be able to get an idea.

Is it in a standard size kitchen sink ? Most faucets are one size fits alla nd you just ahve to decide if you want it all in on handle or a seperate handle for hot and cold water. It's really very simple to do. In the past year, we have replaced 3 faucets and just went into the store and picked the kind we like and it always fit the holes.

no, the holes are cut into the granite, not the sink at all.

I'll try climbing underneath and seeing what I can figure out that way. thanks!

It's not really a measurement. You buy one based upon whether you need two, three or four hole.

Getting the wrong faucet will mean either expensive cutting or the frustration of making returns.

Find out how many holes.......and that is how they are categorized in the stores!

but aren't the holes potentially different sizes? the bases on faucets look very different to me. we have one hold for the faucet, one for the sprayer, an done for the soap dispensor.

I'm not sure about the sizes, i was worried about the spacing of the holes. Can either you or your husband turn off the water and take the faucet in and compare? Or remove the faucet and trace where the holes are and the sizes? You could even get fancy and cut it out in cardboard and set it on there to make sure it would sit right. I know the paper should give you a good idea but I know that it is pliable, whereas the cardboard is less forgiving.

Or can you find your present faucet online and see if it gives you the measurements and you might be able to cross check it against what you are trying to get?

I'm going to sound like an idiot, but we (dh and I) can't figure out how to take the faucets out. I mean, I see the screws underneath and such, but the seal seems soooo tight against the granite, I'm afraid of messing with it. dh is the same (not terribly handy, good thing he's cute, lol).

the problem with finding it online is we can't figure out the maker. there is no stamp! that is part of the problem. the plumbers couldn't find anything either, and therefore can't get the part that would fix the faucet.

I have a granite counter as well - those type faucets don't actually go in the hole.. I have a larger style of that - and the only thing going down the hole is the flex hosing there is a bolt or housing under the counter and sink that tighten and hold everything together.. I don't know how to exlpain it.
but my granite only has 1 single hole cut where my faucet sits no bolt holes or anything like that..
not sure I am coming across right but I hope you get what I mean..
my understanding is they all fit you just have to determine if you have a 1 hole or 3 hole setting.. I have a 1 hole - but since you have a side spray you could have a 3 hole setting.

if you can see everything underneath, how about taking a small ruler and measuring the spacing.

have you run this by the plumber? I would think he could tell you if it would work or not. If he can't tell you, I think I would find a new plumber.

Or maybe take a picture and head to the store and see if they can help. I wonder if you can purchase it, bring it home and see if it matches up and then take it back?

PP do you mean something like this (sorry in advance for the large photo, it was the first/best I saw):
