such a disgrace at our elementary school football game today

I hang my head in shame at what happened today. Our team "a" vs their team "b". The game was a good game. We have announcers from team B in the booth, but the booth is located behind team A bleachers. Announcers in booth were clearly fans of team B as everytime they got a first down, score etc they were whooping it up . As an announcer you are supposed to be impartial to teams. When the clock ticks and you get a first down the clock is supposed to be stopped, it was for team B but not for team A. During the game the announcers would give updates on NFL games and they said "and tonights game is the Filfth-a-delhia Eagles vs the Dallass cowboys" at the end of the game it was horrible, parents from team A stood up and were have a curse match with the booth announcers, words you would hear from drunken sailors. Bodily threats were flying from both directions. and in the midst of all of this, 8 yr old cheerleaders who were scared to tears. It was horrible. Such a huge disgrace. This was a horrible display of sportsmanship.

I just needed to vent this out. BTW yes I am from team "a" and yes our team lost. I don't care much who won or lost, I am just appalled at the behavior of the "grown" men involved.

Omigosh, we had something similar that happened at my daughter's basketball game. We were team A versing team B. We were ahead by one point, the buzzer rang, and a girl from team B released the ball and made a basket. The point was not counted because the ball had not left her hand when the buzzer rang. Team B parents started booing and storming the floor. It was awful, and so scary for the girls.

It never ceases to amaze me how ridiculous parents get a sports..My 5 yr old plays beginners soccer, it is an introduction to the game and no scores are kept. You would not believe what I heard some parents yelling and encouraging. One little girl kicked my daughter in the shin ( hard) to get the ball away from her.The parents were applauding her and telling her to next time aim for my daughters knee cap.I literally had to be restrained.I heard one dad SCREAMING at his son about not having better ball control...I don't get it

I cannot stand the way many, and sometimes feels like most, parents get around childrens' sports.

I do not care if you were better when you were their age, I do not care if you are a frustrated middleager who can no longer play yourself, I do not care if you have anger issures: LET THE CHILDREN HAVE FUN.

I feel your pain. We are about to finish up our first season of tackle football. My DS is in 2nd grade, and while he's had a lot of fun, boy has there been more craziness and more drama, then I would ever imagine. It's nuts how worked up the adults get, and how quickly they forget that this is a kids game and their kids are watching them. My ds has unfortunately witnessed behavoir from adults, that I wish he wouldv'e never seen, and defintely wasn't prepared to explain this kind of behavoir so early in his life. It really is sad, but I will say I'm looking foward to the end of the season and going back to our normal life, and not worrying about any drama that may happen at the next game/jamboree ect. He'll play next year if he wants to, as in reality these are the types of ppl. that he will have to deal with in the real world, but it's a relief to be done with it soon for a while.

I have been one of the angry parents (not to the point of yelling obscenities but still pretty angry). But, it was because of officials, announcers, whatever acting just the way the men did in the announcers booth. It is so maddening to see something like that taken from the kids.

When ds played baseball our All-Star team had one neighboring town that was always our biggest rival. Every time anyone played that team it was the same story--unfair calls, coaches throwing fits, parents acting crazy, etc. etc. DS was 12 the last time he had to play against this town, he is now 27. DD is 11 and when she was a cheerleader 3 years ago the team played this town; and guess what! Nothing has changed.

Aren't rules supposed to be followed and are coaches allowed to point that out?

If you the parent pulled your kid from teams that don't practice good sportsmanship, would there be any teams remaining to play on?

I do think it stinks when you get a totally biased ref. It just shouldn't happen! But I have to say that at all types of games, basketball, football, whatever, the announcers are ALWAYS more excited for the home team. That is just the way it is, I wouldn't take to much offense at that.

My town is so bad that last year (or maybe 2 years ago) we had an uncle shoot another players relative. The kids were all witness to a homicide! How much more horrific can that get!

We now have the fields fenced off and security present at the games! SAD SAD SAD!!!

I agree that sportsmanship can be quite bad at some of these kids games, and unfortunately it's not the kids with bad sportsmanship, it's the coaches or parents. Both of my kids play sports, DD13 plays softball, basketball, and cheerleading ( also played soccer until 4th grade). DS8 plays hockey, baseball, soccer and bowls on a league. Over the years I have seen some HUGE problems.

When my DD was in 3rd grade 2 coaches from another game (multiple games occur at our soccer "complex" at the same time) first started screaming at each other during the game , then they continued the shoutiing match in the center of the field (the game had to be stopped) and eventually they started beating the cr*p out of each other right in front of all the kids.

I have seen multiple screaming (with lots of cussing) matches between parent & parents, parents & coaches, parents & refs.

I have seen a few shoving matches including 1 between 2 moms when my DS was in first grade (one mom called the other moms kid fat).

Last week (maybe the week before) a town right near ours had an incident at a H.S. football game. A father and older brother of one of the players beat up the Ref. at the end of the game right on the field because they disagreed with a call made against their kid.

* It's sad that adults act this way and take the fun out of it for the kids!

Exclamation Wow!

I feel your heatache.

Once time when I was in Elemantary I was playing soccer. Our goalie fell down and got really hurt but nobody stopped the clock, the other girls kicked the ball right over her, and they ended up winning the game! Everybody was cross mad and even crying! While the oher team was like
uh. . .

. . .

It disgusts me.

So much for team spirit.
