How far from the Swan
Hi all,
I had a quick question...how far is the Swan in walking distance from the Boardwalk, MGM, and Epcot? Are they all in the same direction (and it's just one after the other), or are they in different directions. Thanks!! |

DHS is in one direction, Boardwalk and EPCOT in the other.
We just stayed at the Dolphin in September, right across from the Swan. It was about a ten to fifteen minute walk to EPCOT for us, and the Boardwalk was a bit closer. It was VERY hot and muggy, otherwise we might have gone faster (we were each pushing a child in a stroller)! We started out walking to DHS, but the boat came so we hopped on board. The boats are kind of slow, and stop at the Beach Club and Boardwalk inbetween, so many times people who are walking can beat the boat to EPCOT/DHS. |

Yah from the Swan to the BW is a quick walk..not too bad at all! I would have to say it is one of the closest to MGM/HS..but you have to go by the BW to get there. Then Epcot is in the other direction where you can go by the YC/BC and then head right into the World Showcase part of Epcot...But all in all not too far at all

Great! Thanks for the info!
Does anyone know the simplest way to get from the Swan to Grand Floridian? Would I need to get to a park and take the monorail, or is there a direct route? Thanks again! |

Great...thanks!
When you say very close for Boardwalk, and a bit further to DHS...do you mean like 10-20 mins, or longer? Thanks! |

Depends on how fast you walk....
I would say once your outside your hotel-- its a 5 min walk to the boardwalk and about 15 (in different directions) to both Epcot and Studios.
We have stayed at the Swan or Dolphin every trip for the past 10 years. Except for our August trips we pretty much always walked to both Epcot and Studios. If the boat is there when we are ready to leave we will always hop on it; tired by then. We always can "beat" the boat to or from Epcot because it stops at BC/YC and Boardwalk before the Swan. Studios is about and even match because the Swan is the first stop. Another way to get to the Grand Floridian is walk over to the bus stops at Studios and hop on a GF bus.

Swan to Grand Floridian
You can also do the bus to MK and take one of the small boats over to Grand Floridian. We did that last trip and thought it was fun!

The most direct route - and fastest - from the Swan, one of my most favorite resorts - to GF is by taxi!!!

If the Swan is at 6:00 on the clock face, then BW is about 2:00, Epcot is noon, BC is maybe 11. DHS is 3:00 but off in the distance a bit.
It takes about 5 mins to walk to BW from the S/D, depending on where you're going. It's actually about 3 mins to the back entrance to BW. To Epcot, you can walk and it will take you about 15 mins, with the lake on your left, BW on the right. Or you can take the boat, which will take about 15 mins as well, not including any wait times for it to arrive. To DHS, it's about an 18-20 min walk. Just exit the S/D towards the boat docks, cross the bridge heading over to BW. When you get to the back entrance to BW, hang an immediate right, and walk along the canal (on your right, with the backside of BW to your left),on the nice sidewalk. I believe there is actually a sign there, but it's very easy to see. If you take the boat, it will be about 15 mins, again not including any wait times. |

Thank you everybody for your input! I appreciate the advice!
How much would a taxi typically cost from Swan to Grand Floridian? |

I think a taxi is about $20, give or take. WE once did a taxi from AKL or POR - which is about as far as you can go on property, and it was about $35 for a group of six. The Swan is not particualrly close to GF.
The Swan is pretty close to HS via boat. That's probablythe way I'd go. It is worht taking the boat formthe Swan to HS because it's teh next stop. It is not generally a timesaver to take the boat to Epcot as it stops at both Bwk and BC along the way, unless someoen in your group has trouble walking. There are almost always taxi's parked at the SWan...but - since you can't use ME to get to the Swan - you will need to pay for transportation from the airport...combine with the cost of ataxi - and a retnal car probably makes sense. That's what we've pretty much alwasy done when staying at the Swan. Then you could simply drive to GF. |

MGM is a pretty far walk, at least in my opinion. It seems like walking to and from Epcot for just a one way trip to MGM.
BW is VERY close, maybe a 3 minute walk at most. Epcot is maybe a 8-10 minute walk. |

We were going to be eating at the Chef's Table at Victoria & Albert's, so I thought it'd be nicer if we took something quicker to get to GF from the Swan, rather than sitting on the bus...since we'll be all dressed up! Maybe a cab or limo would be nicer for that evening
