Does Your Dog Do This?
I can sit and talk to Hurley or to a person in the same room all day long, but the second Kodi sees that I have a phone to my ear he thinks he needs to try to talk too and I end up having to go into a room that he can't get to to talk on the phone. The other day I called a customer service number (not knowing that the service would be voice activated) and because of him, I kept getting the automated response of "we can not understand your reply." Well, no kidding....I can't understand dog either.

The moment I get on the phone Petey thinks he can con me into to playing fetch. And he CAN because I'm distracted and just mindlessly throw the toy

How funny - I have this EXACT same problem with my Shepherd! If I'm talking to someone in the same room, she sits quietly. If I talk on the phone and someone else is in the room, she's A-OK. But, if I'm alone in the room and talking on the phone, she barks and barks and barks at me.
I think she thinks I'm talking to her, and she just doesn't understand and is trying to talk back to me.

I'm glad it's not just him LOL He doesn't bark...he literally opens his mouth and makes noises that sound like he's trying to talk. Hurley is more of a grunter but he mostly does it right before he rolls over on his back to get a belly rub, when he's fighting with a blanket or a sheet, or when he lies down and since it's not loud, it doesn't really cause any problems. Earlier I was on the phone with a friend, and Kodi started up. I said "Shush, Kodi...I'm trying to talk" and my friend said "yeah, so is he." I do think that he thinks that I'm talking to him because I'm usually looking straight ahead when I talk on the phone and that's usually where he is and he's trying to answer.

my grandmother's chihuahua is like this. he's fine when she's talking with people visiting her home, but as soon as she calls someone on the phone or someone calls her, he's constantly trying to bite her toes and feet. she swats at him and he runs away for a second or two then comes right back. it only happens when she's on the phone.
