Talking NEED help with a Dress Up Trunk, Costumes 90% OFF!

Hi All!

I went to Target today to check out a Christmas Decoration and I walked past the costume/Halloween area which is now 90% off!

Well, I got to thinking, my niece is 5, LOVES to dress up. SO, I found an Ariel Costume with accessories, a Red Velvet (like) gown, A White velvet (like) Snow Princess Outfit (with muff and cape), A Purple Fairy Costume wings and Accessories, leopard dress, and lastly an Orange and Black glittery, frilly dress (says October witch).
6 Outfits and ALL these accessories!
It ALL cost me only $11.00~!

SO, I am planning on making a Personalized Dress Up Trunk! I picked up a large PINK container/lid that I hope to decorate with her name and maybe some designs (like purses??)

I am thinking I can also go and get her some
fun play shoes, boa, silly jewelry, purse, maybe some tights????
I am SO EXCITED to get this project going.....

Any idea's you have about what else I can include or exclude for that matter (mom of a teen boy here, ), ANY decorating idea's for the Trunk???

Anyone make one or have a PIX they can share??? TIA!!!!

For the trunk - how about getting a bunch of stickers, (i.e.princesses) and let your niece decorate it herself!

And, for her name, maybe find a sharpie in a fun color, and use that to get her name on the trunk!

What a great idea - your niece will love this!

What a great idea!! If you're not opposed to gently used items, you might hit a Goodwill store on their 50% off days. There are usually some frilly girly dresses, sweaters, capes (whatever you call those sleeveless sweater things), etc. and with a quick wash, they'd be good as new. There are usually sets of plastic bracelets, necklaces and rings at Dollar Tree or Dollar Store. Hair clips or something might be nice and inexpensive too. Sounds like a fun project! Not sure how her mom feels about "little girl makeup", but a little lip gloss or similar would probably go over well.
Not sure what type of pink box you got, but if it's cardboard, you could decoupage it with almost anything. Scrapbooking stores usually have girly stickers, stamps, die cuts, all sorts of things; but this could get pricey.

ds now 10 loved to dress up when he was little. I did this the Christmas he was 4. Target's 90% off Halloween. It was a huge hit. I just put it in a simple trunk.... never occurred to me to decorate it. I'm sure she will love it.

Thanks everyone, like that Dollar Tree idea for some "jewels" she is a Princess for sure!

I 'll have to skip the make up though....her mom did not even allow her to "paint" at home...till Auntie got her a Big Easel
CRAFTING is CREATIVE and fun, sparks the IMAGINATION!!

I did this one year as a Santa gift for now DD10. She loved it! Don't forget hair accessories, a hair brush, and a mirrror! No makeup necessary. Shoes, or rather, slippers and tights are always nice to include as well as bracelets, necklaces, clip on earrings, a purse or two, maybe even satchels...you get the idea. I wouldn't decorate the box with anything more than her name. Leave that to her!

definitely

need some shoes. Keep checking Target as we have gotten plenty of pairs of dressy types for about $3. It wouldn't really matter the size, just that they are bigger than her feet now.

A feather boa and a big poufy slip were always hits here too.

Funny, we had the same idea - I posted last week when the costumes were at 75% and I picked up 4 Disney Princess costumes.

If you have a Big Lots near you, they have princess accessories - shoes, tiaras, jewelery, etc.

I'm going to get an unfinished wood truck (with a coupon) at a craft store and paint it pink, and then paint DDs name on it.

I made a shimmery pink tutu also, tutorial found on YouTube (I can send you the link if you wish), the materials cost about $8 (after craft store coupon).

I anticipate adding to the trunk with things like a feather boa, hair accessories etc. as DD gets older.

WHAT A COOL GIFT IDEA.... You can get those big wall decal stickers... the dollar store sometimes has them... or get a cool stencil..... and paint it on... non-toxic paint of course...

I would get beads/necklaces etc... clip on earings... etc... depending on the page of the little girl
