Back from WL

We got back home yesterday afternoon. We had a great trip. This is our first stay at the WL and it is fantastic. We love the theming. It was my DW, DS (17 ys), and my DM.

We were in room 3016 woods view with a bunk bed. We had decent view of the castle and could see (and hear) the fireworks at night. House keeping was very good, resort and grounds are beautiful and clean, and good food at the restaurants. If you have ever seen pictures of the food on the plate for Artist Point and think; that doesn't look like much. The plates are huge and we were full by the time we left the restaurant. Warning it is not inexpensive. Loved sitting on the balcony in the morning with coffee and paper and evenings to wind down.

Sorry for all you negative people we had no problems during our stay. For all you people worried about negative reports that you read my guess is you'll be just fine.

If you have questions I'll try to answer them.

Four for WL.

Hi MinnesotaMouseketeers,
Thank you for your trip report and I am glad to hear that you had a great time. Wilderness Lodge is the best resort in my humble opinion! Once you stay there it is hard to stay anywhere else. Thanks again for sharing.

Thanks for sharing! We are staying at WL for the first time - in 12 days! We're all so excited!

Were there any signs of Christmas decorations going up yet?

I'm glad to hear that you liked going to the Artist Point for dinner. We are planning to have our Christmas Eve dinner there. I wanted it to be a special dinner for my family. I love eating salmon, and I can't wait to try it there.

How was Roaring Fork? Did you eat there at all? Just wondering how it compares to other CS choices.

Thanks for sharing!

No signs of Christmas decorations at WL by the time we left. We went to the Spirit of Aloha on Friday and no signs of decorations at the Poly also.

They were going up at Disney's Hollywood Studios Sunday evening, we went back for a full day on Thursday and they were up and the Christmas music was playing.

It was fine...nothing great, but not bad at all. Just your basic breakfast & lunch options. We never ate dinner there, so can't comment on that. We were there at a fairly busy time, and it never felt crowded in there. We did buy our food and eat outside several times....very nice watching the birds in the morning.

Hi, glad you had a great trip!

We are booked at CSR for Apr. This will be our 1 st stay there!! My DH really likes the look of the WL. he would like to change resorts. Anyway, my question is in regard to my DD 16. She is in a wheelchair. I would like to know the size of the resort. My DD likes to go to the food area and make small purchases or refill her mug. She can not travel a far distance. Ex. last May we stayed at CBR we were close to a quiet pool and bus stop but thats it. Our room was too far from everything else. Is the WL one building? Any other advice or info. would be great! Thanks in advance!!!!

We were able to hit all the resort restaurants. When you look in and see how busy it is at Roaring Fork is was a little scary, thinking it would take forever to get through. But we had no problems, they have it down to a science. We stood in a single line and a cast member was there directing people to an open teller. The food was good also.

The ones that hold everything up are the guests. Please have your full order in mind before you get in line. Some families (the larger the worst) stood and debated a long time before they put their full order in. We always knew what we were getting before we got in line.

The main resort is one building, but it is large. Depending on your room it can be a long way just to make your way up and down the hallways to get to and from the elevators.

It is shaped like a U, and depending on which side of the U your on it could be a very long way to make it to Roaring Fork. We were lucky in that we were located on the side that when we got off the elevator it was a very short distance to the restaurants.

I would let a cast member know of your concerns and request a room located nearest the restaurant. Hopefully they can do this.

Hi!
Just wondering if there's a menu outside the queing area, or if we'd need to learn the menu before we arrive? I'd hate to make things more difficult for others!
Thanks!

Is your DD in a motorized wheelchair?

My husband broke his ankle just before our last trip and was in a wheelchair. It was a manual one. We thought we could push him around in it BUT on the very first day we arrived at WL, I discovered that it was way too difficult to push him around that resort. We had a room far away from Roaring Forks so we had to travel the U to get there. The floors had a lot of carpet, so it was impossible for me to push him all that way. When we tried the main floor way to get to RF, there was a sloped floor leading down (think runaway wheelchair!) and to get back up, it was up the slope !! We then ordered a motorized scooter and the problem was solved.

Be sure to request a room close to Roaring Forks.

Good luck and have fun!!!!!
