Strategy for character autographs?
I'm helping some friends plan their first (and only) Disney trip. They have 2 sons (age 7 and 9). They want to know the best strategy for getting some character autographs. The kids have no specific characters they want autographs for, but they do want the autograph experience.
I have suggested that they go to a couple character meals. I'm sure the boys will want some autographs in the parks too. Any recommendations on how to do this efficiently? They don't want to waste too much time. Is there a good strategy to take? Thanks for any advice. |

Pay attention to the times guides (you can get a copy in the park, or check the Steve Soares site for a preview ... it doesn't change too much from week to week). The character meet and greet times are listed. All of the parks have a "main" place where you can see a bunch of characters at once (MK/Toontown, Epcot/character connection, AK/Camp Minnie Mickey, DHS/Animation Studio). Strategy may vary depending upon which park and what time it is.... Epcot's World Showcase can be a great place to collect autographs, as fewer people seem to realize that there are character meet and greets there, and the meeting spots tend to be a little more out of the way so not as many people chance upon it. Thus, lines sometimes are much shorter. Again, pay attention to the times guide for which characters show up when and where ... and study the park map, as the "Mickey hand" shows where the usual meeting spots are.

We just got back and if you are there when MK opens, characters are right across from City Hall, in the little park first thing in the morning. We got Daisy Duck, Pluto, Chip n Dale and Pinocchio first thing in the morning. Also, Epcot has a character spot that is indoors where the kids got Mickey, Minnie, Pluto, Goofy and Donald all at once. That wait wasn't that long for all those characters, I don't think there are as many young kids at Epcot. At a breakfast, they would probably get 4 or 5. We did the Pooh breakfast at Crystal Palace and saw Pooh, Tigger, Eeyore and Piglet.
Also, Buzz and Woody are across from the Toy Story Mania ride at HS at regularly scheduled times. Hope that helps... |
