other cruise lines?

Has anyone cruised Royal Caribbean? The reason I ask is that we have only cruised Disney, and love it! We are considering a Royal Caribbean summer cruise because the price & destination match our needs better then the Disney summer cruise. We will be travelling with my parents, 6 other adults, & 5 children ages 14,11,10,7, 6. I am nervous that we'll be disappointed as we thoroughly enjoy the kids program. The people we are travelling with have always cruised Disney with us as well.

Thanks in advance for your help.

I have cruised three times, twice with RC and once with DCL. It would be hard for me to compare the two because the DCL cruise was the only one that was a family trip. Last October we cruised the Wonder on a 3-day with our kids ages 10, 7, and 3. We loved it, and so did the kids.

My first-ever cruise was on the now-retired RC Nordic Prince to Alaska. I had just graduated from college and my parents were paying, so it was a completely different kind of vacation. Also, cruises were different then... there were a lot more extras and it was all about the food and how extravagant it could be. No meal or buffet was complete without caviar or escargot.

My second cruise was with RC in 2004, on the Voyager to Canada. My hubby and I were celebrating our 10th anniversary and we had a great time. We loved the ship and took advantage of almost everything it had to offer. My hubby loved the scuba-diving class in the pool and rock-climbing onboard the ship. We enjoyed the ice skating show, and the parade through the promenade. All in all it was a great vacation.

I have heard that Disney and Carnival offer the best kids' programs in terms of clubs and activities. But a lot of people also think that RC offers the most fun for older teens with their more "adventurous" activities.

Can't wait to hear what others have to say!

DH and I loved our Panama Canal / South America cruise last November on Royal Caribbean. It was fabulous! But we don't have small children anymore (they're all college-age). Each of their classes of ships offer stuff. Some of them have the wave runner, or an ice skating rink, or miniature golf. All of them have the rock wall, I think, and they all have clubs for kids. The cruise staff was fabulous, and the cruise directors were involved with tons of activities no matter what the age group was. I think you'll have a great time, honestly. Disney has lots of Disney-unique stuff and I think Disney's shows are better quality, but they are also Disney-themed, so you will get more of a variety of shows and you will likely still be entertained. I think it's worth trying and for me, the destination is the key thing anyway. I'm cruising to go somewhere or have an experience, like going through the Panama Canal. Disney is great, but other cruise lines also can offer an enjoyable and rewarding cruise.

we have done dcl and rccl and princess all very enjoyable, kids loved them. Each line has their own deal perfected. It's like comparing Busch Gardens to Disney to Hershey park, they are all very good.

We've done DCL, RCCL, and Carnival. DCL the best, and then Carnival. None of us were really impressed with the RCCL cruise we did. (and their food was bland)

In May we cruised DCL with a friend who had done RCI. She felt that the service, entertainment, and characters were better on Disney, butthought the teen activities were better on RCI. Don't ask me how she came to that conclusion because she NEVER went to any teen activity on Disney.

We have cruised on DCL, HAL, RCI, NCL and Celebrity.

If you are nervous you'll be disappointed, you just might want to stick with Disney. Disney's kids programs are without equal.
