How busy is Disney on Xmas eve, Xmas day and new year?

Thinking of spending xmas in orlando this year.

How busy will the theme parks be? Will everyone stay home on xmas day? Or will it be extra packed because of special events and attractions?

The week between xmas and new years is the busiest time of the year.

The MK will close due to capacity and if you do get in it will be wall to wall people and 2 hour waits for the headliners.

Don't ask the question, you may not like the answer.

I can see from your number of posts, that you are a newbie.
So to answer your question as to the crowds, invision walking down the streets and not being able to see your feet or the concrete. That's
Disney at Christmas and New Years.

We were in the Magic Kingdom on Christmas Eve in '07 and it was so unbearable we left. Words can't describe how crowded it was.

Magic Kingdom has been known to start closing it's door by 10am on Christmas and New Years Eve and on Christmas Eve it is about 11am! So if you do go, arrive early and don't leave the park or you may not get back in!

Go for it. Just plan to be there early, make a good plan, and don't be disappointed if you dont see everything.

We are going this year for xmas week. We booked TS meals for lunch and dinner, so we don't have to deal with CS croweds and are only planning on riding a couple of our favorite attractions. Other than that we are just going to enjoy the xmas decorations in the parks and resorts

Anyone have a guess as to whether MK would reach capacity on the 30th? I am thinking maybe it will be ok because most people would save MK for NYE. TIA

I already replied to say we are going this year. But I also wanted to say the other advice that I got. Same as everyone is saying. Get there before park opens, have a plan, take advantage of other things like the boardwalk area, dowtown disney, realize you won't get everything done! Stinks when you are put in a position like this (such as being a teacher, or another type of job when you just can't take a week off whenever you want) and you can't go during slower times of the year. Hope you have a great time if you decide to go!

If you understand that you'll be going in pretty much to soak in the atmosphere (even if it's a ridiculously crowded atmosphere) and you won't be able to get on the rides, unless you want to stand in line for 2 hours and going to eat at a counter service restaurant might take 1-2 hours from the long lines and finding a table. If you understand these things then go for it,it's a great time to be there!?

I have gone to the Studios on Christmas day in 2003, 2004 and 2006. It was never that crowded. In 2006, in the middle of the day Rock N Rollercoaster was 30 minutes standby, Tower of Tower was a walk on, even for Fantasmic we got there about 15 minutes early and still got seats.

Be aware that MK has special evening stuff on 12/30 for families with young kids who won't be up for NYE so it does get crowded in the evening, but hours are emh that night. We have been xmas week for the last 4 years and will be there this year. We never go to any park on xmas day(there is still alot to do, movies, shopping at dtd , etc), xmas eve at epcot has been our tradition(it also holds crowds well because of its size), NYE we have never gone to MK nor will we ..it has closed to all guest(including resort guests) by 10am each year and its wall to wall people as stated. We have park hopped between DHS and Epcot on NYE. Make sure you make adr for ts that night asap, we did it at 90 days as most people did. This year we are eating late dinner at Kouzzina in BW area then hanging out there to take in the activites there and watch the DHS fireworks from BC area(nice view) and you can also see the epcot ones(the high ones-not the ball) from there.
