Celebration World Resort on Atlantis Dr in Kissimmee

Wa are are going to WDW for Xmas (a big family gathering) .

We are DVC members staying onsite at SSR , however, 12 family members are staying at Celebration World Resort through my niece's RCI trade. She wanted to be as close to Disney as they could get and Celebration World Resort seems to fit the bill.

Other than knowing they allow pets, how is is it there? Has anyone stayed recently? On Trip Advisor there are mixed reviews.

TIA

We enjoy Celebration World every year it seems (we have our fourth year in a row planned for January 2010) as they accept pets. We have enjoyed including our dogs in a rare trip for them each of those trips.

The resort itself is very basic, now aging, has never been completed as planned and offers few onsite features. Nothing really wrong with it but far from a top Orlando resort. They had ceased construction before the economy crashed and that seems to have stopped any work there. We feel the resort is overdue for a renovation, they ave talked of one but last we saw there was no real action toward accomplishing that. Just down the road from Westgate Villas and of the two we prefer CW. Too much sales pressure (even for owners which we are) at Westgate and while the Westgate offers far more resort features it's almost too much the other way! You almost have to drive to things around the resort.

Again if all you want is an adequate unit, nothing special with no real features Celebration World should work fine.

We stayed there a couple of years ago in the winter and everything was fine. We stayed in a non-pet building. It was clean and the price was reasonable. Nothing fancy. The pool and hot tub were clean. It was also a quiet place to stay and there was a pond behind a few of the buildings with a running path for my sister to use. The travel time to Disney was very quick.

We would have chosen CWR for our next trip this coming winter but they did not have anything open for the week we are traveling. So we rented from Vacation Central Florida instead and are staying up the road at Windsor Hills.
Hope your family enjoys their stay!

We are DVC members and we often stay at Celebration world resort as "fill ins" either for a week before or after our DVC stays. I enjoy the resort, It has always been clean which is important to me. The beds are comfy, the living room furniture in the smaller 1 brs are not as comfortable, but they are completely adequate. All units have washer and dryers, which is nice. We were in a 2 br last january and we did limted Disney parks. We did have a wonderful time, it was too cold to swim so we shopped, did one day at Sea World adn other wise hung out at the resort. We had my 75 YO mom with us so we did puzzels.. and Dh had a bout with a Kidney stone ( that's another story) so I am GLAD that we had a 2 br. We will be staying there again.

Edited to add: The pictures on thier website look Exactly like the rooms at the resort.
