Chronic "Deluxer" just booked CBR! Get me excited!

After months of thinking we might not go on our usual Jan trip, the 4/3 deal proved too enticing - especially when we looked at the price for a Moderate stay. (We've stayed at WL, BC, Poly, SSR, and AKL.) HAPPY DANCE TIME!

I was all set to go with POR, but when I finally booked it wasn't available for our dates, and I grabbed CBR.

On the pro side, I'm thinking the Caribbean vibe will be nice in the dead of winter. Con side, I'm worried about buses and a crowded food court. (As for spread out nature of resort, we are able-bodied fast walkers so that's not an issue - although I'll take any recommendations on village choice.)

Ease my concerns please! I should add that on our last trip (last minute over Spring Break) we stayed at All Star Sports. It was fine, no big complaints, so I'm thinking a Mod will be that much better!

Should I waste energy calling over and over to see if POR opens up? The one thing I'm a little sad about is not having the boat to DTD. I also have two big swimmers who like pool slides and I'm not 100% sure about the CBR pool (although in Jan it may not be a huge issue )

TIA!

I'm a "chronic deluxer" as well....and dreaded when I booked CBR for the first time. Ended up loving it, and stayed there twice more. Loved the tropical theming, never had a bit of trouble with busses (except to DTD) or the food court.

We normally stay at BC (we're DVC members) but we still looove staying at CBR for a night or two each trip! They just recently redid their pool, so now the slide and pool area are AWESOME! POR has never appealed to us, so we have never stayed there.

In 2007 and 2008 we stayed in deluxe resorts but went back to CBR this year which has always been our favorite moderate and LOVED it. I actually like their rooms, even though they are smaller, than the Poly's. The only thing I really missed was the monorail but overall CBR was just prettier and more relaxed IMHO.

I have stayed at lots of the deluxes and the moderates and values. from the Grand Floridian to the All Star Music. Each one is unique and awesome in its own way. CBR seems so quiet all the time and is so relaxing and beautiful. You sound like you are open about it and ready for the difference. Don't worry about it.

I like CSR over the others--with convention center never really seems crowded

Thanks everyone for the replies! It worked, I'm so excited now. And those pictures - they sealed the deal! Beautiful.

You know, when I really think about it, POR doesn't really appeal to me much except that it seems like the safe choice. But neither the Mansions nor the Alligator Bayou rooms seemed quite right for our taste. We are Caribbean types all the way.

One more time...HAPPY DANCE!!!
