Not eating in dining room?

I am struggling to understand the dining arangements on the Wonder for our 3 night in December. Bit of background.....

I have a 2 year old and at the moment have late dining and have to wait until I board to see if I can get early.

I've booked flounders reef for her from 7 - 11 each night although I am thinking of changing the second night to flounders reef in the afternoon and we can spend the evening as a family.

So... my plan is that DH and I will eat in the dining room on the first night - some where else on the second night as if we don't get early seating then my dd can't wait that late and then DH and I are going to Palo on the third night.

Where can we eat on the second night if we don't go to the dining room?

Is breakfast and lunch in the blanket beach buffet?

Where can I get free coffee throughout the day?

Thanks for reading,

Christie

There are fast food options on deck nine as well as the Beach Blanket Buffet. BBB is available for all three meals each day.

I would feed your DD early and take her to your regular dining time for you to eat your meal. You can push a couple of chairs together to make a space for her to lay down if she would do that. I love eating in the dining rooms and hate to see you miss out.

Coffee is available on deck nine at the drink station and with your meals for free. You can also get specility coffees at the Cove Cafe for a price. I also believe that most coffee requested at any of the bars carry a cost as well. Not a coffee drinker so I am not sure.

Enjoy your cruise. If you have not joined your cruise meet thread you might enjoy meeting (on line) some of the other DISERS that will be on board with you.

You could eat at Topsiders on any night for dinner other than the first and last night, as I understand it. We did this several times on the Magic on our 7-night cruise. It's less formal than the dining rooms, takes less time, but you're still served and the food is pretty much the same as what you get in the dining room.

You can get coffee during the day in the drive station on deck 9, room service or you can pay for it in Cove Cafe. I'm assuming bar areas also serve it, but I never got coffee in other places. We always started every day with room service that included coffee and something to snack on until we got ourselves ready to go.

There are several alternatives. They include topsiders, a higher end buffet on 9 aft, a burger/taco place in the smoke stack by the Mickey mouse kids pool on deck 9, pizza by the family pool, nacho’s and other snacks one deck up from the pizza place, Palo’s adult only advanced reservations restaurant, room service.

Deck 9 by the Mickey Mouse pool has a free self serve beverage station with coffee and other beverages. Then just before the adult pool is a adults place with specialty coffee for a additional change. Oh, room service is also free however we normally tip them $1 or $2 depending on how much they bring. Only coffee I’d tip them $1.

Are you getting off the ship early and flying home from a island?

Unless they have recently changed things, BBB is not open for dinner on the first and last nights. When it is open for dinner, they usually open around 6:00pm and close at 8:30pm.

I wouldn't miss the dining room. I'd get something earlier for your child (if you can't move to main dining). You can get food for her from room service or any of the deck 9 outlets. Bring her with you to dinner in a stroller, and if she falls asleep, that's fine. There's no need for you to miss one of the dining rooms.

Also...wait list for early dining, then after you board, go to "dining changes" and again request it if you didn't get it at boarding.

Breakfast and lunch are in various places--you need to check the Navigator for times. On boarding, lunch will be in Parrot Cay and BBB. Other days, breakfast and lunch will be in Triton's as well as in BBB and the fast food outlets. Check the navigator the night before and choose where you'd like to eat. The Triton's menu is posted outside the restaurant as soon as the preceding meal is finished so you can see their options. And there's always room service.

Regular coffee is available 24/7 from the beverage station on deck 9 and from room service (ends at 10 pm the last evening). Specialty coffees are available for a price at the Cove Cafe, an adults only venue.

Thanks so much to you all - its all really good to know!

Tried to waitlist for early dining but didn't seem to be able to do it on the web site so will just have to turn up and hope for the best when we ask to change!

.
I agree, don't miss the dining rooms. They are are great experience. Get your child something from the counter service on deck 9 for her. At the late seating, if she still wants to order, the server can expedite her food (they call it 'dine and play' for the older kids, so they can go to the clubs, but they can do it for her too Mine kids have fallen asleep in the dining rooms before and the server has pushed 2 chairs together and gave her a tablecloth for a blanket and she just slept while we enjoyed dinner and the atmosphere. If she missed dinner and wakes up late and wants food, there is always room service!!

another alternative...

I read a while back about a family with a small kid who got stuck with the late dinner; they fed their kid early somewhere else, then brought the portable DVD player and the kid with them to dinner. It kept the kid quiet and still, and mom and dad got to enjoy their meal. Just an idea!

I also agree that each dining room has its own unique theme that should not be missed. Perhaps you could feed her a light snack early on to get her through to dinner.
