Places you never thought you would try but liked!

I would love some reccomendations for some places you have discovered and loved. What is some place you tried and weren't sure about when you made the ADR a LOVED it! and why did you love it? We have been to DW several times now and always eat at the same places. I want to mix it up this time. Be sure to say name & location (park) TIA!

Mine would be Yak & Yeti. I read through some of the flames and wanted to avoid it. We ended up in Animal Kingdom on the hottest day of the year (exaggeration) and decided to eat there to cool off. My mom, aunt, kids and I shared two meals, salad, and apps. Our server was great! I can't remember his name, but he was from Alabama and on the college program. I was pleasantly surprised with the food too. The mandarin chicken salad was wonderful.

Yak & Yeti and Mama Melrose. I'm not one who is fond of the type of food at Yak & Yeti but it ended up being a favorite meal of ours two years ago and we can't wait to go back; Mama Melrose because of all the bad reviews it gets, and we've had four great meals there and will return.

Hollywood Brown Derby in DHS --

Had heard really mixed reviews here, mostly tending toward the negative. It was our best meal, food and service-wise, of our entire trip!

Garden Grill for us. We only went because my DS really wanted to eat at "the spinning restaurant" ....I had read such negative reviews, but we had the best meal of our trip there!

For us it was Biergarten and Teppan Edo. We are adventurous eaters as are our children but we were a little intimidated by these not knowing if the children who were 4 and 7 would like it. They loved it and so did we.

We are even planning a return trip next month when we go.

The theming, the music and the food at both places were amazing to us. We forgot we were in the middle of WDW.

I can't think of a place that we were really surprised as far as TS goes. DH and I don't eat red meat so we tend to be sort of hesitant about where we will eat. I will say that DS14 had Morroccan (sp??) on the last trip for a CS and was very pleasantly surprised. He is our adventurous eater. It became his new favorite CS over the Mexican CS pavilion. In fact, he raced across the park while we huddled in the main store during a torrential down pour one day. We found out the next day that tornadoes had been in the Orlando area!!! To him, it was worth the effort. When we finally met up with him, he was drenched, even though he had on a poncho. However, his hunger had been satisfied. Goofy kid!! He's already talking about that food for our upcoming visit!

I had considered trying Wolfgang Pucks Cafe but it got some really bad reviews on the DIS. This summer we ended up cancelling a couple of our ADRs and went to Wolfgang Pucks because I had read that you could get in without an ADR. We all absolutely loved it and my DH wanted to know why we had never been there in the past.

Nine Dragons.

We only went there because there was nothing else available in all of EPCOT. We had a 8:40pm ADR & had to wait. We were seated just before 9:00 by the window so we had a view of Illuminations. The food was very good as was our server. I had read horrible reviews so we almost didn't go but I sure am glad we did. The DH and the kids loved it too.

Our place was Boma. We ate breakfast there went we stayed at AKL. It was convienant on a rainy morning, so we tried it and LOVED it. When we go in May the only ADR my DH asked for was Boma and dinner this time.

Mine would be Biergarten. I am a very picky eater and almost always try to keep it "American" food, but this place surprised me and I thought it was very very good plus I LOVE the entertainment. We have now been to Biergarten twice and we plan to make it on at least every other trip now.

Mine is Yak and Yeti at Animal Kingdom, too. We didn't have ADRs, and I was actually looking for the counter service. My mom suggested we sit down if they had a table, which they did. It was one of the top 3 meals I've had at WDW, and the ONLY TS I've ever been to without an ADR! Sorta says something for just winging it sometimes -- you never know when you'll find a new fave!!!

BTW, I think it's great you're branching out! There are so many fun places to eat at WDW!
