Port Orleans FQ vs Riverside
Yesterday we got a pin number and because of that we switched our reservations from the Swan to POFQ saving $414 over our 4 day stay in mid April......back in 93 and 94 we stayed at POR and LOVED it but thought maybe we should try something different so we went with POFQ........
For those who stayed at both of these resorts which did you like better....I am thinking of changing back to POR.....am I making too much out of this. Thanks so much for your time, Bob |

I prefer POR. Simply due to the pools. The pool at FQ is too tame for my teenagers and we missed having quiet pools. I did love the theming, the food court, the fact that its the first to be picked up and dropped off when they share busses with POR, but that pool thing was a major bummer for us. I mean its a nice pool. And years ago, that would have been perfect for my kids. But now that they have stayed at POR, CSR and CBR, the one and only pool at POFQ with the smaller slide was a let down. But we still had a ball of course!
You can of course go over to POR and use their pools if you stay at FQ. We didn't have a car so that wasn't too convenient for us. They are both lovely and very well themed resorts! |

I'm sorry, I should of mentioned that it will only be me and my bride of 28 years..
....on this trip...If we spend one hour in the pool that will be a lot......Back in the 90's POR (Dixie Landing, still prefer that name) had a great lounge with a one man act.....I think his name was Bob...he played the piano, sang and told jokes.....is there any thing similar at POR and or POFQ. Thanks again for your time, Bob |

Stayed at POR in 2007 and POFQ in 2008 and
really missed POR--I liked it better. We went over to POR several times to eat at the Food Court because I just love the Create your own Pasta--POFQ was really lacking choices and good freshly prepaired food. When we were there the eating area was alway dirty but when we would go over to POR it was always clean. We will definatly love to stay at POR again, If I would stay at POFQ again I know I would try to request staying on the side of the resort that is closer to POR (liked that side better) we were on the total other end (building 3) I would have loved to have (building 7). Have a Wonderful trip! |

Hi I have stayed at both POR and POFQ. As I do really like them both, I have more of a soft spot for POR. POFQ is quaint and very well themed-I love the street signs and the New Orleans music piped in. This is the much smaller of the two so if size makes a difference it is much easier to get a round at POFQ. That being said I don't think POR is sooo big that it should matter (unless you have small children with you.) The grounds are very lush and beautiful which makes walking a pleasant experience. You can even rent bikes and take them around or take a carriage ride through both properties. There is a full service restaurant here as well as the food court-POFQ only has the food court. Many couples find the mansion side romantic. The bar is great with Bob the piano man still preforming a few nights a week and at certain times of the year there is a big campfire where you can make smores. I think the last time we were at POFQ there was a jazz muscician playing, but I don't know if they still do this. Whichever you choose have a magical trip.

I have stayed at both, and prefer POFQ. It was me and my husband, and we really loved how quiet and peaceful POFQ is. We could easily walk the entire resort, and since we were in building 7, it was only a short walk to POR. We walked there the one night to see Yee Haw Bob (yes, he's still there) and the next night we stayed at French Quarter to see the jazz players at the Scat Cat Club.
It sounds like you and your wife might like POFQ if you're looking for a quiet, romantic trip.

I found a great site that has info on both. www.portorleans.org. I'm at the FQ right now but can't decided if I want to switch. I like the look of the FQ but it looks like POR has more options and things to do. I have a teenager, tweens and a toddler.

We adore FQ. To us it is our "home away from home". Wish they would make some kind of moderate DVC!

I honestly couldn't pick one over the other. They are both lovely resorts, beautifully themed with gorgeous grounds. POFQ is MUCH smaller which appeals to many people. It was nice to be so close to everything but we don't mind walking so not a big deal for us. You really can't go wrong with either. Enjoy your trip!!!

W have stayed at both and I think one of the biggest differences was the boat to DTD. POFQ is the 2nd stop going to DTD so the boat always seemed full when it came and we actually waited in a line that was all the way up the ramp. It took about 1 hour and 15 mins to get on a boat.
