What kind of flowers on Desperate Housewives

What kind of flowers do the set designers use to line the hedges on Desperate Housewives? I've been watching Seasons 4 & 5 on Netflix and I just love the large white and purple flowers they use to set off the greenery. Unfortunately, my flower know how is limited. Does anyone know?

I don't think the Wisteria grow low to the ground and singular like these. I think the Wisteria are the vines, but I'm not really all that knowledgeable.

I would assume they were wisteria- considering the name of the street they live on.... google them.

I don't know what the flowers are but I do absolutely know what Wisteria is. I googled it and the search only confirmed that Wisteria grows in bloom clusters that hang down almost like grapes. Yes they live on Wisteria lane, which is why the Wisteria are draped over everyone's front porches like beautiful Ivy, and I already knew this. The flowers I am asking about grow from the ground up and sit about 2 feet above the ground on relatively sturdy upright stems.

Does anyone know what the non-Wisteria Flowers I'm talking about are?

Are you talking about hydrangeas? They are stalky and come in a variety of purples, blues, pinks, and whites.

such a nice picture of them too

and for sure not wisteria. It is a vine that climbs and the flowers as a PP said hang down like a bunch of grapes.

I can't picture the DH flowers, or I'd offer my thought...I'll be looking on Sunday night now

They look sort of like Hydrangeas but they are singular plants alternating between white and purple to complement the Wisteria above and I've only ever seen Hydrangeas grow in cloud like shrubs. Also, in one of the episodes I got a good look and the flower wasn't the tight snowball like shaping of the Hydrangeas I've always seen. The flowers I'm talking about poof out on top of the stalk but gently fade back on the stalk for a few inches.

They are just so beautiful. We're landscaping this year and I am totally in love with the way they designed the flowers in front of the homes. I know I might not be able to pull it off since the set is probably in a warm climate to keep the flowers blooming for the show... but I can hope.

Thank you so much for all your help. I do not have a green thumb at all, but I love pretty things

Poppies grow like that, tho I don't see purple and white often. Allium also grows like that and is purple and white.

Tis a mystery!
