Looks like cruise is sold out???

A friend is looking to book Feb 20-27, 2010 on the magic and there are only CAT 10 and 11 left is this possible. It is their first cruise and I think they wanted a balcony.

I booked a 12GTY I assume that it means that that is exactly what I will get?

AT least I am on the boat

Absolutely possible that is all that is left. I believe it is during the Kids Sail Free Promo (which many people were sent a pin code for) so many people booked during those months. If they want a balcony they should call DCL and book something they will be happy with but put their name on a waitlist for a balcony or have their TA handle it.

There are now tabs that say Inside, Oceanview and Verandah that you need to click on to see all available cabins. This is a new feature on DCL's website in the last couple of weeks. Another DIS'er pointed this out to me and I was most grateful.

I see availability in every category (except 12!) for 2 adults on that sailing, so it's probably just an issue of needing to pick one of the tabs for the other room types to see that availability.

If you booked a Cat 12 GTY, you'll get at least that (unless there are 4 of you, then you'll get at least a Cat 11) but you could get an 11, 10, or 9.

If I put in for 2 adults, I get availabililty for Cats 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, and 9.

If I put in for 2 adults and 2 children (9 & 5) I get availability for Cats 4, 5, 8 and 9.

So probably something to do with the available lifeboats.

Cat 7's only hold 3 people, the reason you don't see that.
It could be that the only cat. 6's left only hold 3 people as well, or the lifeboat sections could be full.
